The second symbol in Chapter 5 of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is obtained by completing a multi-stage trial built around Sophia’s sphere, colored light beams, reflectors, and moving platforms. Sophia and Leni must work together to reach the trial’s final chamber, where inserting the key into the socket reveals the symbol needed for the chapter’s large locked door.
How to Reach the Second Symbol Trial
Start by locating the door marked with a circle and three spikes. This leads toward the second trial, although you can’t travel directly to the building.
Follow the route around the surrounding area and deal with the soldiers blocking your progress. Eventually, you’ll reach the entrance to the trial.
At the first locked door, stand inside the illuminated area and equip Sophia’s sphere.
The easiest way to solve these colored-light puzzles is to treat the green beam as your anchor. Position the green line correctly first, then rotate the remaining red and blue beams until they connect with their corresponding targets.
Once all three colors are aligned, the door opens.
Clear the Dust and Solve the Second Light Door
Continue into the next room and use the reflector to remove the dust blocking your path.
Another colored-light door awaits on the other side, but this one has more gems than the previous puzzle.
Focus on the green gem at the top of the door. Direct the green beam into it first, then rotate the sphere’s red and blue beams until both connect with the appropriate gems.
With all three colors correctly positioned, you can proceed deeper into the trial.
Watch the floor carefully as you continue. Spike traps become an important part of the remaining puzzle sequence.
Use Leni to Raise the Platform
In the following chamber, approach the illuminated area and clear away the dust covering the wheel.
Doing so allows Leni to operate the mechanism, which controls a platform Sophia needs to reach the next light source near the closed door.
After reaching the light, turn to the right and equip the sphere.
Direct the green beam toward the target above the opening in the wall. Rotate the remaining beams until the red and blue lights fall into their corresponding positions.
Completing this step moves the light source and causes a new series of platforms to appear.
Cross the Spike Platforms
Use the newly revealed platforms to follow the relocated light source. Take your time when jumping between them, as the surrounding spike traps can punish poorly timed movement.
At the next light puzzle, look for the bird design.
Aim the green beam at the gem positioned in the middle of the bird’s neck. Once the green light is locked in place, rotate the red and blue beams until they align with their matching gems.
This activates the mechanisms needed to continue across the chamber.
Work With Leni to Reach the Other Side
Sophia now needs to cross to the opposite side using platforms positioned at different heights.
Jump onto whichever platforms are currently within reach. Leni can operate the newly accessible wheels to raise or lower the necessary platforms, creating a route forward.
Continue coordinating the platform heights until Sophia reaches the opposite side.
Leni will then direct a light toward Sophia, allowing you to use the sphere’s reflector again.
Equip the sphere and follow the illuminated trail across the spike traps to progress toward the final mechanism.
Solve the Final Light Puzzle
The last puzzle follows the same principle as the earlier colored-beam challenges.
Position Sophia at the required point and take out the sphere. Align the green beam with the target at the corner of the platform, then rotate the blue and red beams until each connects with its matching position.
Once all three beams are correctly aligned, the final door opens.
Jump onto the middle platform and pass through the newly unlocked doorway.
Inside, insert the key into the socket. Sophia will record the second symbol, completing this trial and providing another piece of the solution required to open the large Chapter 5 door.
The most useful rule throughout the second symbol trial is to solve every sphere puzzle in the same order: position the green beam first, then adjust red and blue. Combined with Leni’s control over the moving platforms, that approach makes the otherwise lengthy Chapter 5 trial much easier to navigate.
