Pro Tips for Gekko, Fade and Sova – Valorant Initiator Guide

Starting off as an Initiator in Valorant might be a bit challenging for anyone new to the game. This Initiator guide features three Initiators who are relatively easy to use and have a significant impact in lower Elo lobbies.

Gekko, the new agent, appears more frequently now than in the past. One thing players might not realize is that Gekko’s pickup is incredibly fast, with all abilities on a 10-second cooldown. Previously, it took about twice as long to retrieve the abilities.

Gekko and his Wingman(Valorant Initiator Guide)

When throwing Gekko’s abilities straight up, jumping alters the time it takes to retrieve them. For example, if the ability is thrown while jumping, it takes almost two full seconds to hit the ground. However, if it’s thrown normally, it returns to the ground in just one second. This adjustment can significantly affect gameplay in different situations. If opponents shoot it high in the air, it will still take around two seconds to fall. In an aggressive situation, avoid jump-throwing. If getting rushed, a standing throw allows faster retrieval, potentially letting you shoot and escape in certain scenarios.

Gekko’s Molly doesn’t deal much damage until it explodes. When the Molly comes down, don’t be overly afraid. Running through it won’t cause significant damage—it only deals about 10 damage. This trick can catch opponents off guard. They may think they’re safe behind it, but you can run through and attack.

Fade With The Easiest Recon in Valorant

Fade’s abilities can provide valuable intel. Learning to optimize her toolkit will significantly enhance your gameplay. Fade’s tether ability provides a sound cue when it connects with an opponent. Upon tethering an enemy, the snap sound signals that the ability hit someone. Missing the tether results in no sound. This auditory cue becomes especially helpful when throwing the tether over walls or obstacles, providing info on enemy locations.

Fade’s ultimate operates in stages, similar to Breach’s. As the ultimate moves across the map, it pings tagged enemies, revealing their positions. This gives you critical information. If enemies are close, the ultimate pings them immediately. If there are multiple enemies at varying distances, the different stages of the ultimate allow you to gauge their relative positions. Utilize the mini-map to track enemy movement based on these pings.

Sova The Most Effective?

Sova, a versatile agent, excels in gathering information and baiting opponents with his utilities.

To maximize effectiveness with Sova, bait your enemies with the Dart or Drone. For example, throw the Dart behind an enemy or off to the side, letting it scan the area. When opponents turn to shoot the Dart, you can strike, using the brief moment they’re distracted. The same strategy applies to Sova’s drone. Let it fly in and bait enemy fire, giving you the upper hand in engagements.

Instead of focusing solely on damaging the spike planter with Shock Darts, aim to target the enemies supporting the planter. Shocking multiple opponents grouped around the spike provides much more value than focusing on a single player. Predict where enemies might gather during post-plant and maximize Shock Dart damage by hitting multiple targets at once.
