Summary

    • Complete Main Mission 9 to unlock Mega Stones and access to Stone Emporium and Quasartico Inc. shops.
    • There are three ways to obtain Mega Stones such as purchasing from shops, defeating Rogue Mega Pokemon, or earning through ranked battles and Mystery Gifts.
    • Collect over 60 different Mega Evolutions with costs ranging from 50,000 Pokedollars to 360 Mega Shards depending on the Pokemon.

Mega Evolution is back for Pokemon Legends: Z-A after its absence from previous franchises! This mechanic allows you to collect specific Mega Stones for each Pokemon to transform and make the hunt for these items essential. But where can you find the Mega Stone in Pokemon Legends ZA? Check out where and how to get them!

When Do Mega Stones Unlock?

Once you complete Main Mission 9, you can begin collecting the Mega Stones. This mission will be your key to unlock the Mega Evolution mechanic after a battle against a Mega Absol. Defeating this Pokemon will reward you with your first Mega Stone.

After the mission, you will get access to the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue which opens for business. They will offer you the opportunity to buy additional Mega Stones for your gameplay. Shortly after unlocking the Stone Emporium, you’ll gain access to a second shop inside the Quasartico Inc.

This shop sells Mega Stones in exchange for Mega Shards instead of the Pokedollars. Regardless, both shops will expand their inventory as you progress through the main story so you can check it regularly.

Stone Emporium Purchases

Here, you can use Pokedollars to purchase some of the most popular Mega Stones in the game. They usually offer budget-friendly options starting at 50,000 Pokedollars for Scizorite, Medichamite, Abomasite, and Gengarite. These are all available immediately after completing the Main Mission 9.

On the other hand, mid-tier purchases begin at 70,000 Pokedollars with selections such as Steelixite, Garchompite, and Kangaskhanite. The premium stones cost 100,000 Pokedollars for iconic Kanto starters like Charizardite Y, Charizardite X, and Blastoisinite.

Starter Pokemon gets special treatment in this game. So choosing Meganium, Feraligatr, or Emboar for your starter rewards you with Mega Stones as a gift during Main Mission 10. Those who selected different starters may purchase these stones from the Stone Emporium for 100,000 Pokedollars after reaching Main Mission 37.

Quasartico Inc. Mega Shard Exchange

On the other hand, Quasartico Inc. operates using a different currency system. They accept Mega Shards instead of the usual Pokedollars. So the most affordable option will cost 180 Mega Shards, including Pidgeotite, Manectite, Audinite, Lopunnite, Sablenite, Sharpedonite, and Houndoominite.

Many of these became available during the Main Mission 10. Then, the 240 Mega Shard tier offers competitive choices like Gyaradosite, Heracronite, Aerodactylite, Pinsirite, Lucarionite, and several others. Those at 360 Mega Shards price point include powerhouse options like Drampanite, Aggronite Salamencite, Chandelure, Excadrite, Alakazite, and Falinksite.

However, there are some Mega Stones from Quasartico Inc. that you can unlock only during specific missions. They might require completing certain mission milestones before you can access them. So make sure to check both the Stone Emporium and Quasartico Inc. when you complete major story missions to see new options.

Rogue Pokemon Battles and Story Rewards

Other than purchasing from shops, you can get Mega Stone as rewards for defeating Rogue Mega Pokemon. These are special encounters which appear throughout the story, requiring you to defeat them. Some of the Rogue battles include the following:

    • Mega Slowbro (Main Mission 11)
    • Mega Victreebel (Main Mission 13)
    • Mega Beedrill (Main Mission 16)
    • Mega Ampharos (Main Mission 13)
    • Mega Venusaur (Main Mission 29)
    • Mega Dragonite (Main Mission 32)
    • Mega Tyranitar (Main Mission 33)
    • Mega Starmie (Main Mission 34)

You’ll unlock access to Mega Stone after completing the story arc against these Rogue Mega Evolution or encountering an NPC in Mega form. For the legendary Zygarde, you can receive the Mega Stone after Main Mission 37. On the other hand, the exclusive Eternal Floette Mega Stone requires defeating the Infinite Royale for 15 times after Main Mission 39.

Special Event and Competitive Rewards

Sometimes, you can also get an exclusive Mega Stone during Pokemon Legends ZA events. Currently, the Gardevoirie is obtainable through Mystery Gift from October 16 to February 28, 2026. This gives you several months to claim this popular Mega Stone before it becomes unavailable.

On the other hand, the Z-A Battle Club Ranked Battles offer three exclusive starter Mega Stones:

Reach Rank K in Season 1 (Oct 16 – Nov 4, 2025)

Delphoxite

Obtaining Rank K in Season 2 (Early November 2025)

Conclusion

It’ll be a tough task to collect all Mega Stone in Pokemon Legends ZA instantly. It balances in-game currency requirement with story progression, making sure you’ll get to unlock the stone after completing the arc. So, it is best to plan your purchase carefully and choose which Mega Evolution form to prioritize.
