Dying Light 2 and Remnant 2 Leaving PS Plus Extra in July 2025
Dying Light 2: Stay Human is the most surprising title leaving PlayStation Plus Extra this month. Introduced in November 2024, it’s exiting the catalog far earlier than expected. Historically, PS Plus Extra games follow six-month, one-year, or two-year contracts, but Dying Light 2’s roughly seven-month stay breaks that trend. The same goes for Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, which was added in January 2024 and is now leaving after roughly a year and a half—another unusual contract length. These unpredictable removals have made tracking exits tougher than usual.
The rest of the list includes three previously predicted departures: Remnant 2, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, and Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. These titles joined PS Plus Extra in July 2024, making their one-year run complete. Over on the Premium tier, Job Simulator is also departing.
If you caught the prediction video earlier this month, these three were accurately forecasted. Dying Light 2 and Swansong, however, went completely under the radar due to the irregular contract terms. Job Simulator’s removal wasn’t mentioned either, as most trackers focus on Extra rather than Premium titles.
Dying Light 2 Review: Movement, Melee, and Mayhem
Dying Light 2 blends first-person parkour with gritty zombie combat. If Mirror’s Edge, Dead Island, and Skyrim had a crossover, this would be the result. The core movement system is the standout: running, climbing, vaulting, and gliding across a crumbling cityscape gives traversal real weight and excitement. Combat focuses on melee weapon crafting and durability, combined with stamina management and intense crowd control.
The dynamic day-night cycle changes gameplay significantly. Daytime is manageable for scavenging and quests, but nighttime shifts into horror territory. Hostile infected flood the streets, forcing players to seek rooftops or safe zones. Completing missions at night yields better rewards, but increases the risk substantially.
Zones are controlled by factions, offering player-driven world changes through safehouses, towers, and quests. The sandbox systems reward creativity—luring enemies into ambushes or experimenting with traversal-based strategies. Full campaign co-op supports up to four players.
A full playthrough takes around 24.5 hours. Completionists chasing a Platinum will need 100+ hours. Dying Light 2 holds a Metacritic score of 76 and a user score of 7.2.
Vampire: The Masquerade Swansong – Detective RPG with a Dark Twist
This game breaks from combat-heavy formulas by focusing on narrative-driven role-playing. Instead of weapons and action, Swansong is built around dialogue, deduction, and investigation. You control three vampires, each with unique personalities, abilities, and objectives. Gameplay centers on exploring environments, uncovering secrets, and navigating dialogue duels using stats like persuasion, psychology, and deduction.
Every action costs resources like willpower and hunger, creating a balance between power use and secrecy. Overuse of vampire abilities risks revealing the truth and violating the “Masquerade,” resulting in consequences that affect endings and outcomes.
There are no traditional game overs, but your decisions can lead to failure states, dead characters, or dramatically altered story paths. It’s more of an interactive novel than a traditional RPG—closer to Disco Elysium than Detroit: Become Human. Average completion time is about 16 hours, and 30 hours for full completion. The Metacritic score is 66, with a very low user score of 3.7, reflecting its niche appeal.
Other Exits: Crisis Core, Bannerlord, and Job Simulator
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion and Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord are both ending their year-long runs on PS Plus Extra. Crisis Core delivers a character-focused prequel to Final Fantasy VII with updated visuals and streamlined combat, while Bannerlord offers a large-scale medieval war sandbox that balances strategy and real-time action.
Job Simulator exits the Premium lineup. While VR-only, it’s one of the more iconic VR titles and features whimsical simulations across various careers.
If you’ve been planning to play any of these games, now’s the time. Dying Light 2 and Swansong may not follow the standard removal timelines, so the window to play titles in future months could continue to shorten without notice.
