PixARK Terracrypt DLC Takes the Survival Game Underground

PixARK is expanding its block-based survival world with Terracrypt, a major DLC launching August 26, 2026 at 6 PM PT. The underground-focused expansion introduces 12 biomes, 80 new creatures, additional enemies, a new storyline, and expanded technology and genetic engineering systems, with Snail Games USA estimating more than 200 hours of additional gameplay.

Terracrypt Adds 12 Biomes Across Three Underground Layers

Terracrypt is described as the largest expansion released for PixARK so far. Rather than simply adding another region to the existing world, the DLC takes players underground through three progressively more challenging layers containing 12 distinct biomes.

Exploration will bring players into contact with 80 new creatures that can be fought or tamed, alongside 11 new enemy types. The expansion also introduces updated gameplay features designed around the increasingly dangerous environments found deeper beneath the planet’s surface.

The major additions include:

  • 12 underground biomes across three layers
  • 80 new creatures
  • 11 new enemy types
  • A new storyline
  • Expanded technology progression
  • Genetic engineering mechanics
  • New base-building and automation options
  • More than 200 hours of additional gameplay

The expansion maintains PixARK’s combination of survival mechanics, creature taming, crafting, and voxel-based environments while substantially increasing the amount of content available.

Terracrypt Introduces a New Story

The expansion begins after the player’s ship is shot down and crashes on an unfamiliar planet. A distress signal eventually draws the survivor into a conflict between rival factions that has continued for roughly a thousand years.

Players will have to navigate those competing groups while repairing relationships and establishing new alliances. With the planet itself facing destruction, the story eventually places the fate of its inhabitants in the player’s hands.

The premise also provides a reason for the protagonist’s technological advantage. Players arrive with tools unavailable to the planet’s existing factions, creating opportunities to develop increasingly advanced equipment as they progress.

New Technology and Genetic Engineering Systems

Terracrypt expands PixARK’s progression with new technologies that go beyond the equipment available in the base game.

Gas-powered technology will provide new options for combat and traversal, while more sophisticated construction systems allow players to develop advanced bases and automate parts of their production process.

Genetic engineering introduces another progression path. Players can use the system to cultivate plants and engineer creatures, providing additional ways to prepare for the more dangerous areas found in the expansion.

Together, these mechanics are designed to make progression through Terracrypt’s three underground layers about more than simply finding stronger equipment. Building infrastructure, developing technology, and experimenting with genetics will all play a role in surviving deeper environments.

PixARK Terracrypt Release Date and Price

PixARK: Terracrypt launches on August 26, 2026 at 6 PM PT and will be available through Steam.

Terracrypt arrives roughly seven years after PixARK first adapted the creature-taming and survival concepts associated with ARK into a colorful voxel world. With dozens of additional creatures, a completely new underground setting, and substantial additions to its progression systems, the expansion represents one of the game’s biggest content updates since launch.
