Persona 5 The Phantom X Global Update: Everything’s Changing

The global version of Persona 5 The Phantom X (P5X) is already shifting direction—and not all players are thrilled. As expected, the developers are taking a different path from the original Asian version, altering the character release order, speeding up content, and tweaking character performance like Yui’s.

The most controversial decision so far involves Marion, who won’t move into the standard banner immediately after her limited run. This is being seen as a FOMO tactic that pressures players into summoning right away. In the original Chinese version, she returned one patch later. Now, in Global, there’s no timeline at all. This opens the door for inconsistent banner reruns and unpredictable future schedules.

Character Buffs and Reworks: Yui Update Leads the Way

Surprisingly, Yui (also known as UI Buoy) received a buff exclusive to the global version. Her follow-up attacks will now last for two turns and deal additional damage. Specifically, she gains a 34.2% attack boost and 24.2% bonus damage during follow-ups. This change improves her consistency and overall power.

The adjustment signals something larger. It shows that Global isn’t afraid to modify the meta compared to its Asian counterpart. These tweaks may be beneficial in some cases, but they also create potential confusion for players trying to keep up with builds and tier lists. If more characters get adjusted regularly, predicting banner value becomes harder.

Speeding Up Content: Catch-Up Strategy Confirmed

The developers confirmed they will accelerate updates to close the gap between the Chinese and Global versions. This move doesn’t only affect the story. It also impacts character banners, events, and Phantom Idol schedules.

This plan could overwhelm new players. The game is barely a few weeks old, but if it condenses a year of content into six months, there will be less time to save currency and prepare for powerful units. According to community figure Nox, everything is getting sped up, not just the narrative.

That raises real questions. How will this pacing affect gameplay? Can players keep up with the release speed? If banners overlap or events stack up, casual players may feel left behind.

Currency Disparity and Resource Concerns (Persona 5 The Phantom X)

Another big concern is the uneven compensation between versions. During a recent maintenance window, Global players received 100 Metajules, while players on the Chinese version got 300, plus another 300 through a promo code. Global, so far, hasn’t received any promo codes at all.

This feels unfair, especially when the updates go live at the same time. Some fans speculate this could push players to learn on the Global version and then restart on a more generous server. That’s a tactic players used in other gacha titles with similar resource imbalances.

Still, not all differences hurt Global. The devs introduced exclusive login rewards and packs that are better than their counterparts in other regions—for now. If these continue, they could balance out the limited launch resources. But if these advantages shrink over time, frustration will grow.

Keep an eye on banner timing, especially if you’re free-to-play—it could change with little warning. If the reward gap continues, expect more comparisons with other versions from frustrated players.
