How to Get the Bellringer Badge in PEAK

The Bellringer badge in PEAK requires you to activate five different Belltowers during a single expedition through GLOOM. The challenge is simple on paper, but GLOOM’s dense fog, sleep buildup, Ghost encounters, and randomized layout make finding all five towers much harder than it sounds.

Completing the challenge rewards the Frog Hat, and you can attempt it on any standard difficulty. Custom Runs do not award achievements, so make sure you’re in a normal expedition before starting.

Bellringer Badge Requirements

To unlock Bellringer, you must:

  • Enter a run that includes GLOOM
  • Find five different Belltowers
  • Activate all five in the same expedition
  • Avoid using a Custom Run

Progress does not carry between expeditions. If you activate four Belltowers and then wipe, the next attempt starts from zero.

Check Whether GLOOM Is in Your Run

Before building your inventory around Bellringer, make sure GLOOM is actually part of the current biome route.

PEAK’s biome order follows a broader structure:

Slot Possible Biomes
1 SHORE
2 ROOTS or TROPICS
3 ALPINE or MESA
4–5 CALDERA + THE KILN or GLOOM + THE CITADEL

The important section is the final pair. GLOOM always appears with THE CITADEL, while the alternative route uses CALDERA and THE KILN.

If the fourth biome is CALDERA, you won’t encounter any Belltowers during that expedition. If it’s GLOOM, you can begin preparing specifically for Bellringer.

How Belltowers Work in GLOOM

Belltowers are special structures scattered throughout GLOOM. Reaching one and interacting with its bell counts as one activation toward Bellringer.

They also have a practical survival function.

Ringing a Belltower clears some of the surrounding GLOOM, creating a safer area where you can recover, regroup, and get your bearings. Since prolonged exposure to the fog causes sleep buildup, every tower effectively becomes both a checkpoint and part of the achievement objective.

Because GLOOM layouts vary between expeditions, there is no single fixed route that guarantees all five tower locations.

Best Ways to Find Belltowers

The fastest approach is to use environmental clues instead of wandering through the fog at random.

Search From High Ground

Whenever possible, climb above the fog and scan the area before moving.

Belltowers can produce visible sparkles, which are much easier to notice from elevated terrain. Rocks, pillars, and other high points give you both better visibility and temporary relief from the sleep effect.

A useful routine is:

Climb → scan for sparkles → choose a direction → descend → activate tower → recover → repeat

This is much safer than staying inside the fog for long periods.

Follow Stone Statues

Small gray statues can appear throughout GLOOM, often with one arm pointing in a particular direction.

Use them as navigation clues.

They do not always point directly toward a Belltower, so don’t treat every statue like a guaranteed objective marker. However, they can help you identify promising directions when visibility is poor.

Combining statue directions with high-ground scouting is much more reliable than using either method alone.

Use Crow Groups as Landmarks

Groups of crows sitting on pillars are another useful way to orient yourself in the fog.

They aren’t a guaranteed Belltower marker, but they help distinguish one part of the biome from another. If you keep seeing the same crow formation, you’re probably circling through previously explored terrain.

Use crows, statues, sparkles, and elevated terrain together to build a mental map as you search.

How to Survive the GLOOM While Searching

The biggest danger isn’t just getting lost. Staying in the fog too long builds the sleep effect, which can drain your stamina and make traversal increasingly dangerous.

Bring tools that help manage the fog whenever possible.

Useful options include:

  • Lanterns
  • Faerie Lanterns
  • Candles
  • Book of Bones

The exact item you find depends on the run, but anything that reduces the risk from prolonged fog exposure can make Bellringer significantly easier.

Minimize Time Inside the Fog

Do not treat GLOOM like a normal exploration biome.

Instead of walking through the mist continuously, use elevated terrain as temporary safe points. Scan from above, choose a specific destination, then drop into the fog only when you have a plan.

After activating a Belltower, use its cleared area to recover and decide where to search next.

That rhythm reduces wasted stamina and makes it easier to keep track of which sections you’ve already searched.

How to Deal With the Ghost

The Ghost can make an already difficult Belltower search much more dangerous.

Listen for its audio cue. If you hear it nearby, avoid standing in the fog trying to figure out exactly where it is. Move toward a Belltower or another safer position instead.

An active Belltower can also help deal with the Ghost.

If you’re working on the Exorcist badge during the same run, lure the Big Ghost beneath a Belltower and ring it when the Ghost gets close. The resulting flame can burn the Ghost and count toward Exorcist.

That makes Bellringer and Exorcist natural challenges to combine.

Bellringer in Solo Play

For solo runs, the safest assumption is that you personally need to ring all five Belltowers.

Keep track of every activation, especially once you reach four. At that point, survival becomes more important than grabbing unnecessary loot or taking risky detours.

Since one death resets the entire challenge, playing conservatively after the fourth Belltower can save you from repeating a long search.

Bellringer in Co-op

Co-op makes locating towers much faster because your group can spread out across GLOOM.

Have every player communicate when they find a Belltower and keep a shared count.

There has been some inconsistent community reporting about whether separate players can collectively contribute to one person’s Bellringer progress. Because that behavior isn’t completely reliable, the safest method is to designate one player to activate every tower personally.

Your teammates can scout ahead and call out locations while the designated player follows behind and rings each bell.

This takes slightly longer than fully splitting the objective, but it removes uncertainty over achievement credit.

What Does Not Count Toward Bellringer

Several actions can appear helpful without actually progressing the badge.

Simply finding a Belltower does not count. You must activate it.

Ringing the same tower multiple times does not count. The challenge specifically requires five different Belltowers.

Previous expeditions do not count. All five activations must happen in one run.

Custom Runs do not award the badge.

Wiping ends the attempt. You’ll need five fresh activations in the next expedition.

Leaving GLOOM before reaching five ends your opportunity for that run.

Keeping a simple count of 1 through 5 as you go is the easiest way to avoid confusion.

Other Badges You Can Earn in the Same Run

Bellringer pairs well with a couple of other GLOOM challenges.

Exorcist Badge

Exorcist requires you to burn the Big Ghost.

Since Belltowers can destroy the Ghost, try luring it beneath one of the towers you’re already planning to activate. Ring the bell as the Ghost approaches to handle both objectives in the same expedition.

Well Rested Badge

The Well Rested badge requires you to find and eat The Early Worm, which can spawn somewhere in GLOOM.

Check muddy shoreline areas and shallow water while searching for Belltowers. Its exact location can vary between generated layouts, so this is another objective that rewards thorough exploration.

Bellringer Reward

Completing the five-tower requirement unlocks the Frog Hat.

The cosmetic makes Bellringer one of the more worthwhile GLOOM-specific challenges, particularly if you’re already hunting the biome’s other badges.

For the most reliable attempt, wait for a run containing GLOOM and THE CITADEL, prepare items that help manage sleep, and search from high ground whenever possible. Use sparkles, Stone Statues, and crow formations to narrow down your route, activate every tower as soon as you find it, and stay alive long enough to reach all five before leaving the biome.
