Overwatch Reveals Best Look Yet at Hero 55

Blizzard has provided the clearest look yet at Overwatch’s mysterious Hero 55, revealing the unnamed Omnic Support’s full character design during BlizzCon 2026. The upcoming hero wears a fedora, suit, and long coat while carrying an umbrella, reinforcing the detective-like appearance previously teased through silhouettes.

Hero 55 is scheduled to become the final new Overwatch hero of 2026. Blizzard hasn’t revealed the character’s name or abilities yet, but the new artwork provides considerably more information about their appearance ahead of the full reveal.

Overwatch Hero 55 Is an Omnic Support

The updated 2026 roster artwork finally shows Hero 55 without a silhouette.

Blizzard has confirmed that the character is a Support and an Omnic, although most other details remain under wraps.

Hero 55’s design includes a formal suit, fedora, and flowing coat, giving the character an unmistakable detective-inspired aesthetic. The Omnic also carries an umbrella, an accessory that could potentially play a role in their abilities.

Blizzard hasn’t explained what the umbrella does, however, so any connection to Hero 55’s gameplay remains speculation for now.

The character’s full name, backstory, abilities, and exact release date have also yet to be announced.

The New Design Addresses Concerns About Hero 55’s Silhouette

Hero 55 had already generated discussion before the BlizzCon reveal because Blizzard appeared to quietly alter the character’s silhouette.

Following D.Mon’s arrival, fans noticed several differences in the updated 2026 hero lineup. The previously long, flowing coat appeared shorter, the fedora had changed, the raised collar looked flatter, and the glowing Omnic-style eyes were no longer visible.

Those changes prompted speculation that Blizzard had substantially redesigned the character before release.

The full artwork suggests the changes weren’t quite as dramatic as the revised silhouette implied.

Hero 55 still has a prominent coat and hat, while the complete design is more elaborate than the silhouette could communicate. Another mystery has also been cleared up: the object previously interpreted by some players as a cane is actually an umbrella.

Hero 55 Will Complete Overwatch’s Huge 2026 Roster

Hero 55’s upcoming arrival caps an unusually busy year for Overwatch.

Blizzard relaunched the game in February 2026, officially removing the Overwatch 2 branding and returning to the original Overwatch name. The company also announced plans to introduce 10 new heroes throughout 2026 while placing greater emphasis on the game’s ongoing narrative.

That strategy has brought a steady stream of new characters and seasonal updates throughout the year.

Hero 55 will be the last of those planned 2026 additions, although Blizzard is keeping the character’s gameplay details secret for now.

Doctrine Is Overwatch’s New Vampire-Inspired Support

BlizzCon also gave players a much more detailed look at Doctrine, another Support hero and an ally of Doomfist.

Doctrine has a vampire-inspired design and fights using a scepter capable of both healing teammates and damaging enemies.

His kit also includes bat drones. These can be deployed to heal allies while increasing their attack speed, giving Doctrine a mixture of direct support and offensive utility.

Mobility is another major part of his kit. Doctrine can rush across the battlefield while surrounded by a shroud of darkness and is also capable of taking flight.

His connection to Doomfist places him directly within Overwatch’s current storyline, which continues to expand the role of Doomfist and his allies.

Sombra Is Becoming More of a Support Hero

Blizzard also revealed substantial changes coming to existing heroes in Season 5, including a major Sombra rework.

Sombra is shifting toward a more tactical support-oriented playstyle. Her Translocator still allows her to become invisible, but her updated abilities give her significantly more utility for helping teammates.

Her Hotfix ability can heal allies, while another part of her kit allows her to establish a zone that simultaneously weakens enemies and restores health to teammates.

The changes represent a notable departure from Sombra’s traditional disruptive role.

Roadhog Can Now Send Projectiles Back at Enemies

Roadhog is also receiving a reworked kit, although he remains firmly in the Tank role.

His signature hook is staying, while his healing ability now provides stronger damage resistance.

One of the biggest additions allows Roadhog to absorb incoming enemy projectiles and return them as an explosive ball of scrap.

That gives him another defensive option beyond simply relying on his large health pool and self-healing, while potentially punishing opponents for firing carelessly into him.

With Doctrine, the Sombra and Roadhog reworks, and one final mysterious Support still waiting for a complete reveal, Blizzard isn’t finished with Overwatch’s 2026 lineup yet. Hero 55’s new artwork has finally answered what the character looks like, but the more important question—what that umbrella can actually do—remains unanswered.
