‘Outlander’ actor Sam Heughan (43) is applying for the role of James Bond

Scottish actor Sam Heughan, mainly known for the hit series Outlander has once again expressed great interest in the role of James Bond. The actor is said to have auditioned before and would love to work as the new Scottish Bond in the next film.

More than two years after the appearance of the most recent Bond film No Time to Die, Outlander actor Sam Heughan has again indicated he is open to donning the tuxedo after Daniel Craig. In an interview with The Telegraph, he reveals that it is still a wish of his. “I would be a brilliant Bond. I am good at action and could handle emotions intelligently,” the Scottish actor believes.

In a telephone interview with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby in This Morning, the actor revealed back in 2020 that the secret agent character is his dream role. “It’s obviously a dream for every actor. I auditioned for it when they chose Daniel Craig for Casino Royale and I think many more actors from the United Kingdom auditioned for it,” said Heughan, who advocates that the next Bond should be a Scot again. “Of course it would be a dream role. Who wouldn’t want to see a new Scottish Bond?”

James Bond

The 2021 Bond film No Time To Die will be the last film in the franchise to feature Daniel Craig as the secret agent. The actor reportedly already considered quitting after Spectre, but was again persuaded by the production because the new film has something unique in store that no previous Bond film ever did. Also, Craig was eager to travel to Jamaica, where he believes the entire franchise originated. With Craig definite not returning, however, the production must therefore look for a new face.

Whether Heughan is a contender he does not know, but he would pick up immediately if called. Yes, I have to finish this call quickly because I’m waiting for a call from Barbara Broccolli,” he says jokingly. For now, it seems that the Scot’s competition is to be sought mainly in the corner of actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, but Regé-Jean Page and Kingsley Ben-Adir would also be considered for the role.
