The Elven Maiden quest in Oblivion Remastered is one of those quests that’ll blow your mind and challenge your stealth and sneaking skills. And if you’re getting into the shady world of the Thieves Guild, then this is an essential quest. Not only is this quest full of sneaky heists, clever trickery, but it also has some incredibly satisfying loot! So let’s jump right into one of the best quests in Oblivion Remastered.

Prerequisites to Start the Quest

If you want to start the Oblivion Remastered Elven Maiden quest, you should be active within the Thieves Guild first. Then, you have to complete two prerequisites. One consists of fencing at least 100 Gold worth of stolen goods with the fence Ongar the World-Weary in Olav’s Tap & Tack in Bruma. The other involves finishing the preceding Thieves Guild quest “Untaxing the Poor”. After those conditions have been completed, you can start the Elven Maiden quest by talking to Armand Christophe. They are located in the Imperial City Waterfront after midnight.

Infiltrating the Undercroft

Use fast travel or travel to the Great Chapel of Arkay in Cheydinhal. The chapel is the initial entrance point of the undercroft where the prized bust of Lady Llathasa Indarys is located. Once you are at the chapel, find the door leading to the undercroft that has an average difficulty lock. You need to ensure you have enough lockpicks to break into this door without notification. After you pick the lock, be cautious about entering because the undercroft is patrolled by a Chapel Guard who will walk around the area nonstop.

To avoid setting off any alarm or getting combat notifications, take off all your weapons and armor to ”sneak” better. Maybe use an invisibility or chameleon spell or enchantment to up your chances of sneaking without anyone noticing. Keep still for a minute and move very quietly.

Hug the left wall so that you will go directly to the crypt where the bust is beside Llathasa’s Tomb. Don’t touch the tomb; if you disturb it, Llathasa’s Spirit will be summoned (which is an unfriendly ghost). It will alert the guard and make things more complicated. After obtaining the statuette, the goal is to get out of the chapel and back to the Imperial City Waterfront District without causing any suspicion.

Dealing with the Aftermath

When players return, that’s when the drama kicks in, as the Thieves Guild is under scrutiny regarding the theft. Your guild contact, Armand Christophe, has been arrested for the theft and has fled. The Imperial City Waterfront has very tight guard patrols, one of which is Hieronymus Lex of the Imperial Watch. Lack of trust abounds within the guild, and tension is heightened when you speak to Methredhel. She reveals that your last mission was actually a setup to point out a traitor within the guild.

You also learn that the true culprit is another Dunmer, Myvryna Arano, a newer member of the guild, who had been working against the guild without arousing suspicion. In order to clear Armand, you will need to trespass into Myvryna’s home undetected by guards and Myvryna.

The next thing to do is to put the statuette into Myvryna Arano’s cupboard. You have to place evidence that makes it look like she is the actual person who stole it. Now that you have this evidence, you need to go find Hieronymus Lex and convince him to search her home. You need to make sure his disposition is large enough to convince him that she is guilty.

Quest Completion and Rewards

When Lex searches the place and arrests Myvryna, he’ll pardon Armand. And then, he’ll meet you at midnight in the Garden of Dareloth. This return marks the official completion of the quest, where Armand expresses his gratitude and rewards you with 100 Gold. More importantly, the player earns a promotion within the Thieves Guild ranks, ascending to the “Bandit” rank.

Outside of the instant gold and rank-up benefits, the Elven Maiden quest further contributes additional rewards. For instance, players now have a fence, Dar Jee, located in Leyawiin. This further expands players’ stolen fencing options while smoothing interactions and operations within the guild’s network. Players gain +2 Infamy reputation points from completing the quest, therefore adding to the reputation in the Thieves Guild world.

Conclusion

Finishing the Elven Maiden quest is definitely sweet for any Oblivion Remastered player who enjoys sneaky strategy and stealth. It is about outwitting your foes, gaining advancement in the Thieves Guild, and really feeling like one of the best thieves in the Imperial City. Besides the story progress and reward from this quest, it is certainly worth your time.
