No More Room in Hell 2: Best Guns, Ranked

Choosing the right firearm in No More Room in Hell 2 can determine whether a difficult run ends in extraction or a zombie horde. While almost any loaded weapon has value, the strongest guns combine reliable headshot damage, manageable ammunition requirements, good capacity, and enough stopping power to handle armored enemies or emergencies.

From efficient sidearms to a full-auto battle rifle, these are six of the best guns worth carrying in No More Room in Hell 2.

6. MP5

Capacity: 30+1 rounds
Ammo: 9mm
Best for: Horde control and general-purpose backup

The MP5 lacks the raw stopping power of the higher-ranked weapons, but its generous magazine and readily available ammunition make it a practical choice.

Unlike several stronger firearms, the MP5 generally can’t eliminate zombies with a single headshot. It compensates with a 30-round magazine and access to burst and fully automatic fire, giving players plenty of follow-up shots when accuracy starts falling apart against a large group.

Another useful feature is its built-in flashlight, which doesn’t consume batteries. That makes the MP5 particularly convenient when navigating darker environments.

It also fires 9mm ammunition, the same caliber used by the M9A3. Since 9mm is relatively plentiful, keeping the MP5 supplied isn’t as difficult as maintaining some late-game weapons.

The problem is efficiency. With the Headblown skill, the M9A3 can make much better use of the same ammunition. The MP5 is therefore best treated as a forgiving automatic weapon rather than the most economical way to spend your 9mm reserves.

5. 1911

Capacity: 7+1 rounds
Ammo: .45
Best for: Reliable pistol headshots

For survivors without a build specifically enhancing the M9A3, the 1911 is arguably the strongest handgun available.

Its major advantage is damage. The 1911 can kill most zombies with a single well-placed headshot without requiring Headblown, giving it excellent ammunition efficiency for players confident in their aim.

Compared with the Model 13, it also offers greater accuracy, a larger practical capacity, and attachment support. Players can pair it with an off-hand flashlight when exploring dark areas.

The 1911 has another advantage when playing with a group: it is currently the only firearm using .45 ammunition. Unless another teammate is also carrying one, you won’t be competing with players using more common ammunition types.

Its seven-round magazine prevents it from ranking alongside the best emergency weapons, but as an accurate and efficient sidearm, the 1911 is difficult to beat.

4. Rochester 1873

Capacity: 14 rounds
Ammo: .357
Best for: Accurate, ammo-efficient headshots

The Rochester 1873 combines the stopping power of .357 ammunition with significantly better capacity than the Model 13 revolver.

A successful headshot can eliminate zombies outright, including enemies wearing civilian and police helmets. Its 14-round capacity also gives players far more breathing room than the revolver that shares its ammunition.

Reloading is relatively flexible because the animation can be interrupted when necessary. If zombies suddenly close the distance halfway through topping off the rifle, you aren’t forced to finish loading before responding.

The Rochester can also accept useful attachments, including scopes and suppressors. That versatility makes it an approachable option for newer players who want a powerful firearm without sacrificing too much flexibility.

Its biggest weakness is speed. The lever-action mechanism can’t compete with automatic and semi-automatic firearms when a horde is already on top of you. Damage also falls off at longer distances, potentially requiring an additional headshot against distant targets.

For controlled engagements, however, the Rochester remains an exceptionally dependable rifle.

3. M14 Battle Rifle

Capacity: 20+1 rounds
Ammo: .308
Best for: Armored zombies

The M14 Battle Rifle is built around one major advantage: penetration.

Its powerful .308 rounds can punch through every type of helmet, including military protection. That makes the M14 particularly valuable once heavily armored zombies start appearing and weaker calibers become less reliable.

With 20 rounds in the magazine plus one in the chamber, it also offers considerably more sustained firepower than something like the Hunter bolt-action rifle. In many situations, it feels like a heavier and more combat-oriented step up from the Rochester.

The M14 does have a frustrating limitation: it can’t equip a scope. Its iron sights aren’t especially comfortable either, undermining some of the advantages players might expect from such a powerful rifle.

Anyone specifically looking for a long-range sniper should consider the Hunter instead. For repeatedly punching through armored heads at more typical engagement distances, the M14 is the stronger all-around choice.

2. X12 Super

Capacity: 6 shells
Best for: Close-range emergencies

When a large group of zombies gets dangerously close, few weapons can solve the problem as quickly as the X12 Super.

Its defining advantage is the semi-automatic action. Instead of cycling the weapon manually after every shot, players can rapidly fire multiple shells into an approaching horde. That makes the X12 an excellent panic weapon when careful headshots are no longer practical.

The Fierra DB12 offers similarly quick shooting, but its double-barrel design limits it to two shells before another reload becomes necessary. The X12’s six-shell capacity makes it far better suited to sustained close-quarters fighting.

Its effectiveness becomes particularly apparent in confined environments such as Raven Rock, where zombies can quickly fill rooms and corridors. At close range, the X12 can tear through groups before they have time to surround the player.

Range is its obvious weakness. This isn’t the weapon to choose for distant targets or precise long-range engagements.

Within shotgun distances, though, the combination of high damage and semi-automatic fire makes the X12 Super one of the best emergency weapons in the game.

1. M7A1

Capacity: 30+1 rounds
Ammo: 6.8x51mm
Best for: Armored enemies and high-intensity combat

The M7A1 takes the top spot thanks to a combination of automatic fire, high capacity, and excellent armor penetration.

Its 6.8x51mm ammunition gives the rifle a significant advantage against protected zombies. The M7A1 can reliably penetrate helmets and body armor, while armored enemies can be brought down with roughly four to five body shots when landing a headshot isn’t practical.

That last point matters when a fight becomes chaotic. Headshots remain the efficient approach, but players don’t always have time to carefully line them up while retreating from a crowd. The M7A1’s fully automatic fire gives it the raw stopping power to recover from those situations.

It consequently outperforms the MC-15 and other 5.56 rifles when armor penetration and immediate damage become priorities.

The tradeoff is ammunition availability. 6.8x51mm rounds are scarce, making careless full-auto fire an easy way to turn the game’s strongest rifle into an empty piece of equipment.

Anyone carrying an M7A1 should pair it with a dependable pistol or melee weapon and save the rifle’s ammunition for situations where its superior firepower actually matters.

Best Guns in No More Room in Hell 2 at a Glance

Rank Weapon Capacity Main Strength Main Weakness
1 M7A1 30+1 Full-auto armor penetration Scarce ammunition
2 X12 Super 6 Exceptional close-range stopping power Poor range
3 M14 20+1 Penetrates all helmet types No scope support
4 Rochester 1873 14 Powerful and versatile Slow rate of fire
5 1911 7+1 Excellent pistol damage Limited capacity
6 MP5 30+1 Capacity and abundant 9mm ammo Low damage

The M7A1 is the strongest overall choice when ammunition isn’t a concern, particularly against armored enemies, while the X12 Super is hard to beat when a horde reaches close range. That doesn’t make lower-ranked weapons disposable, however. The 1911 and Rochester can deliver excellent ammunition efficiency, while the MP5’s common ammo and large magazine make it a dependable option when stronger weapons are difficult to keep supplied.
