Where to Get the Warden’s Stone in Mortal Shell 2

The Warden’s Stone is an Infusion Tarstone made specifically for the Great Martyr’s Blade in Mortal Shell 2. Equipping it gives the massive weapon a Frost effect capable of freezing regular enemies and even many bosses, making it an excellent upgrade for anyone building around the Great Martyr’s Blade.

Getting it isn’t particularly easy, though. You’ll need to travel through the Abbey, enter the Conqueror’s Domain, and defeat Urrig the Executioner near Winterglass Lake. These are higher-level areas, so consider upgrading your character and equipment before making the trip.

How to Get the Warden’s Stone

The Warden’s Stone drops from Urrig the Executioner in the Conqueror’s Domain.

Your first objective is reaching the Sester’s Gate Beacon in the Abbey, southeast of Marrow Keep.

A straightforward route is:

  1. Travel through the Outskirts of Mammon.
  2. Find the siege camp filled with bear traps.
  3. Pass through the bone gate beyond the camp.
  4. Follow the main route and use the jump pads and additional bone gates.
  5. Continue until you reach the Abbey Entrance Beacon.
  6. Follow the route toward Sester’s Gate.
  7. Cleanse and activate the Sester’s Gate Beacon.
  8. Enter the cleansed gate to reach the Conqueror’s Domain.

You’ll know you’re heading in the right direction once the environment transitions into a snowy mountain region.

How to Reach Urrig the Executioner

Once inside the Conqueror’s Domain, continue progressing through the main route until you reach a large frozen lake.

Look for the Winterglass Lake Beacon, which is positioned near the stairs before a broken bridge. Activate the Beacon and rest before continuing, as you’ll want your resources replenished for the upcoming boss encounter.

The broken bridge has two bells nearby that must be rung using your Sidearm.

One bell is located below the left side of the bridge, while the second is across the gap on the opposite side. Shoot both bells with your Sidearm to proceed.

From there, continue forward until you reach Urrig’s arena.

How to Beat Urrig the Executioner

Urrig isn’t one of Mortal Shell 2’s most complicated bosses, but attempting to block everything he does can quickly get you killed.

The biggest problem is his collection of unblockable attacks. He can also inflict Frost, eventually freezing you completely if you’re hit too many times.

A patient approach works best. Don’t commit to lengthy attack combinations while Urrig is preparing another move. Instead, dodge his unblockable attacks, wait for his recovery animation, and punish the resulting opening.

Continue repeating that pattern until Urrig goes down.

Defeating Urrig the Executioner rewards you with the Warden’s Stone, allowing you to equip its Frost Infusion on the Great Martyr’s Blade.

What Does the Warden’s Stone Do?

The Warden’s Stone infuses the Great Martyr’s Blade with Frost.

Repeatedly striking an enemy builds toward the Frost effect until the target becomes frozen. This gives you an opportunity to land additional attacks without immediately worrying about retaliation.

It’s particularly useful on the Great Martyr’s Blade because the weapon is naturally slow. Heavy weapons can be dangerous when enemies don’t give you enough time to finish an attack, but freezing your target creates much larger openings.

The effect also works against the majority of bosses, giving the Warden’s Stone value beyond clearing ordinary enemies.

As with other Infusion Tarstones, fully upgrading the Warden’s Stone makes its Infusion permanent.

Is the Warden’s Stone Worth Using?

The Warden’s Stone is one of the strongest Tarstones available for a Great Martyr’s Blade build.

Its main advantage is crowd control. The Great Martyr’s Blade already deals substantial damage and can cleave through groups, while Frost prevents surviving enemies from immediately retaliating.

One useful strategy is to open with the weapon’s sprinting attack, taking advantage of its invulnerability while cutting through enemies. Continue attacking to build Frost, then use the freeze window to safely commit to your slower and more damaging combos.

The Tarstone becomes even more powerful when paired with Eredrim.

Best Warden’s Stone Build With Eredrim

Eredrim’s Apathy skill has an effect that increases his damage against frozen enemies by 200%.

Since the Warden’s Stone gives the Great Martyr’s Blade a reliable method of applying Frost, the two mechanics naturally complement each other. Freeze an enemy with repeated Great Martyr’s Blade attacks, then capitalize on the opening while Eredrim’s damage bonus is active.

That effectively allows him to deal three times his normal damage against frozen targets.

For players already committed to the Great Martyr’s Blade, the trip through the Conqueror’s Domain is therefore well worth making. Defeat Urrig, equip the Warden’s Stone, and you gain both a powerful form of crowd control and one of the strongest synergies available for an Eredrim Frost build.
