The Love Potion is one of the most useful brews in Moonlight Peaks if you’re trying to build relationships with the town’s romanceable characters. Despite its name, it doesn’t instantly make NPCs fall in love with you. Instead, it temporarily boosts the friendship gained from gifts, making it much easier to raise affection and unlock Heart Events.
Here’s how to unlock the recipe, gather every ingredient, and make the most of the potion’s effect.
How to Unlock the Love Potion
Before you can brew any potions, you’ll need access to the Cauldron.
The Cauldron becomes available after completing the “Mend it with Magic” main story quest. Once repaired and placed on your farm, it serves as your potion-brewing station.
After unlocking potion crafting, visit Sabrina at Webb of Wonders, where you can purchase the Love Potion recipe for 4,000 Coins.

Besides being used in potion recipes, planting it near Weeping Wiccas transforms them into Sweet Wiccas.
Muse Nut
Muse Nuts are harvested from Muse Trees.
Purchase Muse Tree Seeds from Luna’s Seed Stall and plant them on your farm. These trees only grow if a Gramophone is placed nearby, so be sure to provide one before expecting a harvest.
Amour
Amour is a fish found in the Pink Grove.
You’ll need to unlock the Mermaid Form before you can access this area and catch it.
Suffrain Powder
Suffrain Powder comes from Suffrain, a herb grown in the Herb Garden.
Suffrain Seeds are sold by Luna during Autumn and Winter.
Luck Dust
Luck Dust is produced by Rabbiculas, a farm animal that becomes available beginning in Spring of Year 2.
Well-fed and happy Rabbiculas create digging spots around your farm that reward Luck Dust when excavated.
What Does the Love Potion Do?
Despite its name, the Love Potion doesn’t create an instant romance or force NPCs into a relationship.
Instead, drinking it temporarily increases the amount of friendship gained whenever you give gifts to villagers.
This makes it especially valuable when handing out an NPC’s favorite or loved items, allowing you to earn Hearts more quickly and unlock relationship events sooner.
How to Use the Love Potion
Using the potion is simple:
- Place the Love Potion in your inventory.
- Select it and choose Consume.
- The friendship bonus activates immediately.
The effect lasts for one night and expires after you sleep in your coffin.
Because the duration is limited, it’s a good idea to prepare in advance by collecting gifts for several villagers before drinking the potion. Visiting multiple NPCs in the same evening lets you get the maximum benefit from a single brew.
Can You Sell the Love Potion?
Yes. If you don’t need the friendship bonus, the Love Potion can be sold for 2,200 Coins.
However, since many romance candidates require significant affection to unlock dating, marriage, and Heart Events, using the potion is usually a much better investment than selling it.
