Monster Train 2 Release Date and Platforms
Monster Train 2 officially launched in May 2025 across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Following its February demo reveal, positive player feedback helped fuel excitement leading up to release. While no post-launch expansions have been confirmed yet, the original game received several updates—so there’s a strong chance that more content will follow. Crossovers with other IPs have already been teased.
New Clans and Card Types in Monster Train 2
The sequel introduces five entirely new clans. Two are available at the start:

The Banished (angelic exiles)

The Pyborn (dragon-like creatures using Py Gel mechanics)
Three more clans—Luna Coven, Underle Legion, and Lazarus League—must be unlocked by completing specific in-game combat challenges. Each brings distinct playstyles, such as enhanced status effects or battlefield control.
Over 200 new cards are now part of the roster, including familiar unit and spell types. Two new additions are:

Notably, Hell Rush, an eight-player timed multiplayer mode, makes a comeback despite its removal from the first game. In addition, two brand-new modes add even more variety:

The Story So Far
In Monster Train 2, players reverse direction. Instead of fleeing from heaven, the train now heads toward it. After mighty titans threaten all of existence, a truce forms between heaven and hell. Together, they aim to stop this new threat. Lore fans can look forward to expanded world-building, including card descriptions and in-game dialogue that enrich the sequel’s setting. Monster Train 2 builds on the original’s foundation with deeper mechanics and expanded replay options. Strategic flexibility is enhanced through new card types and clan synergies. The added restart and undo features offer players more control without sacrificing the game’s core challenge.
