Minecraft To Introduce More Mob Variants – What We Know So Far

Players might see upgrades in their environment with the new Minecraft mob variants. There will be upcoming additions to the virtual Minecraft world such as the farm animals variant and more. Now, take a look at everything new in Minecraft mob variants from Java Snapshot and Bedrock Preview.

New Chicken Variants Take Flight

Two new chicken variants are about to come in with the most recent snapshot from the updates. These will complement the existing mode which is renamed to “temperate.” Moreover, the cold variant is distinct for its dark gray and blue coloring which stands out. Also, there’s three tufts of feathers poking out from the back of its head.

On the other hand, the warm variant keeps the familiar chicken silhouette which is striking in gold color. Plus, the variants also lay corresponding colored eggs to quickly identify the variant. It’s blue eggs for cold chickens while brown eggs for warm chickens which adds visual diversity.

Warm and Cold Biome Specialization

While it seems like a random addition to the game, Mojang actually intends to tie these to specific biomes. The Minecraft mob variants create a more immersive ecosystem experience for all players. Also, each animal variant is readily determined by the biome they spawn in.

Meaning to say, it’ll be consistent across all animals with variants in warm and cold biomes. This makes the game closer to realism by its adaption of how the natural environment works.

Beyond Chickens: Pig and Cow Variants

It’s not only the chickens that get the new Minecraft mob variants. They also added this new system for more farm animals such as pigs and cows. The cold pig variant wears a fluffy fur coat to adapt to subzero temperatures. On the other hand, the warm pig variant has a rust-brown coloration that fits the sandy biomes.

Cow mob variants will also have these specific details for their appearances to make them distinct. However, it’s still unknown what changes it will be as the variants are still underway and in the testing phase.

Technical Implementation and Spawn Mechanics

On technical aspects, players will have to pay attention to game mechanics after the addition of these new variants. So far, Minecraft is experimenting with the possibility of adding entries to chicken variants with data/<namespace>/chicken_variant/<id>.json.

Moreover, Mojang clearly defined spawn conditions to make sure that variants only appear on its assigned biomes. This mechanic alone made the iconic farm animals much better and unique to Minecraft’s virtual world. However, some players expressed their concern about maintaining the classic gameplay.

Yet, this addition still perfectly balances the enhancements and existing original variants as they expand. These Minecraft mob variants are available through Minecraft Java Snapshot and Bedrock Preview builds. However, the full release might come later in a future update of the game.

Besides the mob variant, they also made changes to some features like cactus flowers and dry grass. This makes the game well-loved by many by seeking improvements in players’ overall experience with the game elements.

Conclusion

These are all that is known so far about Mojang Studios’ latest update for Minecraft mob variants. It definitely excites many from the community especially those who interact often with farm animals. Plus, it gives a refreshing experience to players with a much more realistic environment design. However, these are still in the testing phase and are only accessible in Minecraft Java Snapshot and Bedrock Preview builds.
