Marvel Zombies PvE Mode Adds Deep Progression and Endless Play

Marvel Rivals just revealed its new Marvel Zombies PvE mode, and it’s full of surprises. The trailer highlights hero upgrades, difficulty tiers, and wild new abilities that make each hero feel different from their PvP versions.

Players can team up in squads of four to fight through waves of zombies and take down bosses like Scarlet Witch, the Queen of the Dead, and zombie Namor. Each fight looks chaotic. Punisher drops turrets that fire in every direction. Magik cuts through riot-class zombies that can’t be stunned. Thor unleashes lightning storms during his awakened state. Meanwhile, Jeff the Land Shark blasts explosive bubbles that pop into wide bursts of blue flame.

How the Progression System Works

Progression sits at the heart of the Marvel Zombies PvE mode. Under Khonshu’s blessing, heroes grow stronger with each run. Every session grants new Khonshu Blessings that boost health, damage, or ammo capacity. Some even add unique traits, like Punisher’s headshot tracking bullets or a shotgun chain reaction effect.

Each hero follows a different upgrade path. Punisher’s assault rifle, Adjudication, and shotgun, Deliverance, evolve separately. Blade gains access to Moonlight Blades, a passive area attack that slices nearby enemies. The longer players grind, the tougher their heroes become. As a result, higher-tier challenges like Extreme or Nightmare mode become more manageable over time.

Hero Customization and New Abilities

Before starting a run, players use a prepare screen to pick a hero, adjust abilities, and assign trait points. For Punisher, the choices are significant. He can replace his basic turret with a Relentless Pursuit turret that auto-locks onto enemies or switch to a Shield Sentry turret that can absorb more damage.

Abilities also transform in this mode. Grapples become Snare Beacons that pull zombies into kill zones. Ultimate attacks switch between Piercing Barrage or Missile Swarm, giving life-steal and area damage boosts. The Phantom Rush skill adds speed and collision immunity after a grapple, creating flexible setups for both offense and defense. Altogether, these systems let players tailor each hero’s loadout for any difficulty or team setup.

Difficulty Levels and Replayability

The mode includes four main difficulties—Normal, Hard, Extreme, and Nightmare mode. The last one acts as an endless survival challenge. Every run tracks waves, completion time, and hero stats, encouraging competition and replay value.

In addition, there’s an autofill option for solo players. This lets anyone tackle the undead alone without waiting for teammates. Combined with the leveling system and hero customization, Marvel Zombies PvE mode feels like a full game within a game.

Between its boss battles, progression loops, and evolving hero builds, this mode shows how far Marvel Rivals can go beyond standard PvP play. It’s a bold new way to experience the heroes fans already know.
