Marvel Rivals Ultron Update: Every Change in Season 2.5

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 launched on May 30, 2025. This patch introduced Ultron, a new strategist hero, alongside sweeping balance adjustments and several changes to team-up abilities. Nearly every character feels the impact of this update.

Nerfs to Captain America, Emma Frost, and Groot

Captain America loses some durability. His base health dropped from 700 to 675, and the regeneration delay after dropping his shield increased from 2 to 4 seconds. Additionally, the energy cost for his Freedom Charge ultimate rose from 2,800 to 3,100, making it slower to build. Groot also took a hit—his Vine Strike damage dropped to 65, and Ironwood Wall now has a 12-second cooldown, up from 8 seconds. Emma Frost now has a longer pulse range, but weaker shielding, a longer Carbon Crush cooldown, and reduced Crystal Kick damage.

Buffs for Doctor Strange, Magneto, and Squirrel Girl

Doctor Strange received a strong long-range damage improvement. His Daggers of Dino now retain 80% damage at 20 meters, up from 62.5%, and the Maelstrom of Madness fall-off range was improved. Magneto now stacks charge more quickly, gaining a ring every 3 seconds instead of 4. Meanwhile, Squirrel Girl benefits from a shorter Mammal Bond cooldown and an increased ammo count of 12.

Thor and Jeff Reworks in Marvel Rivals 2.5

Thor’s rework shifted his hammer throw into a standard ability with a 6-second cooldown, removing its Thor Force cost. Every enemy hit grants one Thor Force. The shield bonus per consumed Thor Force now provides 75 health instead of 100, and the max bonus health decreased to 150. Jeff’s rework introduced several major changes. Joyful Splash now damages enemies while healing allies, and Aqua Burst became a charge-based skill that launches enemies. His healing bubble delivers 120 health over time rather than instant healing, and Hide and Seek now has a 6-second energy-based limit. His ultimate received a cost increase but now grants better damage resistance and overflow healing for swallowed allies.

Smaller Adjustments Across the Roster

Several other characters received minor changes. Hela now holds 10 ammo instead of 8. Human Torch suffered reduced fire cluster damage and longer cooldowns on Blazing Blast and Flaming Meteor. Iron Fist’s tank potential decreased with lower conversion rates and reduced bonus health. Neor’s Blessing of the Deep cooldown now sits at 20 seconds, while her ultimate’s inner radius widened slightly, but outer damage fell. Luna Snow’s base damage and healing tick increased to 22 per round, but her ultimate cost increased to 5,000 energy. Iron Man’s repulsor damage dropped slightly, and his armor overdrive bonus health was halved.

Major Team-Up Changes: Additions, Removals, and Rebalancing

Several team-ups either received updates or got removed. Gamma Charge still exists, but Iron Man no longer activates it. Rocket and Punisher lost Ammo Overload, and Luna no longer shares Chilling Charisma with Jeff. Other removals include Allied Agents and Symbiote Bond.

Meanwhile, several existing team-ups received tuning. Iron Fist’s damage boost from the Atlas Bond was reduced from 15% to 10%. The Fantastic Four combo saw its cooldown increased from 20 to 25 seconds. Hulk and Neor’s Gamma Monstro ability now takes 20 seconds to recharge. Emma Frost’s illusion in the Mental Projection team-up now grants only a 20% damage bonus instead of 30%.

New Marvel Rivals 2.5 Team-Ups

Several new team-ups debuted in this patch. Chilling Assault links Luna Snow and Hawkeye. He gains a wall-piercing ice arrow that deals 75 damage and stuns targets beyond 30 meters. Jeffnado connects Jeff with Storm, letting his ultimate attach to hers, swallowing and damaging all enemies caught in the storm.

Operation Microchip gives Black Widow a pulse rifle and grants Punisher extra HP and a small DPS increase. Rocket Network offers Rocket Raccoon healing upgrades and web-enhanced support for Penny Parker. Stark Protocol links Iron Man with Ultron, replacing Ultron’s primary fire with nano rays that simultaneously heal allies and damage enemies. Lastly, Symbiote Shenanigans allows Jeff to tether to an ally and provide healing until a burst triggers, while Venom gains 150 bonus HP.

Meta Watch: What’s Next After the Ultron Update?

With Ultron’s introduction, reworks to Jeff and Thor, and major synergy updates, Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 opens up fresh combinations for competitive and casual players. Balance changes hit nearly every corner of the roster, and several new team-ups provide unique matchups not seen before. As strategies evolve, players will likely find new favorites in both solo play and team-based builds.
