Marvel Rivals just made one of its biggest moves yet by giving fans what they’ve been asking for since launch — a PVE Mode. The reveal took place at the Thailand Game Show, which I attended today, and I’ll be sharing some clips and photos from the event soon across our socials soon. This update ties directly into the Marvel Zombies series on Disney Plus, bringing new gameplay, exclusive skins, and a whole new way to experience the game.
A Big Reveal at the Thailand Game Show
Danny, Marvel Rivals’ executive producer, took the stage at the Thailand Game Show to discuss how the team chooses heroes for the roster. But before wrapping up, he delivered the weekend’s biggest surprise: a full reveal of the long-awaited Marvel Rivals PVE Mode. The trailer confirmed that players will face waves of enemies inspired by Marvel Zombies, blending classic action gameplay with co-op survival mechanics.
Alongside this reveal, new themed skins for Blade and Scarlet Witch will debut as part of a collaboration with Marvel Zombies on Disney Plus. Fans of Marvel’s Avengers and Ultimate Alliance will feel right at home with the mode’s team-based combat structure and objective-driven missions.
Zombies, Bosses, and Gameplay Details
From the footage, it looks like regular zombie enemies won’t pose much of a challenge — the real threat lies in boss encounters such as Zombie Namor and corrupted versions of heroes like Scarlet Witch. The trailer even shows multiple Punishers, suggesting that hero duplication will be allowed, enabling creative and chaotic squad setups.
Early previews confirm that Jeff is currently the only dedicated healer in this mode, though that might change in later updates. The PVE Mode officially launches on October 23, with another trailer expected two to three days before release.
What It Means for Marvel Rivals Players
The arrival of this mode marks a major shift for the game. PVE will attract a broader audience — especially players who prefer cooperative missions over competitive ranked play. This could significantly boost the game’s popularity heading into Season 5, which already features competitive updates and hero balance tweaks.
Beyond the immediate excitement, the PVE structure opens a new storytelling channel. Instead of using gallery cards for lore delivery, NetEase could use these missions to tell season-based stories, expanding on both comic and cinematic Marvel lore.
Future Potential and Community Hype
The potential here is huge. The Marvel Zombies universe includes dozens of undead heroes and villains that could serve as future bosses — from Zombie Iron Man to Captain America. By expanding this PVE experience, the developers could create an ongoing seasonal cycle of story-driven content that keeps both casual and competitive players invested.
The reaction so far has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans calling it the “biggest W” in the game’s history. With Deadpool teasers, free cosmetics, and new event drops also on the way, it’s shaping up to be an exciting month for Rivals players.
