Marvel Rivals News: Phoenix Knight Moon Knight Skin and Major Balance Changes

The new Phoenix Knight Moon Knight skin has officially been revealed, and it’s dropping as an Epic rarity skin. Priced at 1,600 units, it’s cheaper than expected, especially considering the heavy visual enhancements. While the skin lacks custom sound or ability effects, its MVP animation is visually striking. The fiery cape, burning crescent darts, and glowing eyes elevate the aesthetic, even without full ability VFX. For more Marvel Rivals news, keep reading below.

The included emote also brings flair, showing off Moon Knight’s Phoenix Force-infused hands. Despite the lack of legendary-level VFX, this could signal more Phoenix Force skins coming in Season 3, especially with Gan Gray on the horizon.

Marvel Rivals Buffs: Thor, Moon Knight, Star-Lord (Marvel Rivals News)

Thor received the most impactful buff of this update. His Awakening Rune can now be manually canceled after a short delay, allowing better mobility and less predictability. Previously, activating it left him vulnerable until the effect ended. With this change, players can safely use the rune without committing to the full duration, making his kit far more flexible.

Moon Knight also got a small but notable buff. His base health has increased from 250 to 275, improving survivability. While dominant at lower ranks, he underperformed in higher-level matches. This tweak aims to address that imbalance.

Star-Lord’s Element Guns now retain slightly more damage at range. The falloff cap is now 65% instead of 60% at 25 meters, a modest change meant to improve his mid-range pressure.

Team-Up Nerfs Target Storm, Jeff, Penny, and Luna Snow

Several powerful team-ups received balance adjustments. Storm’s Omega Hurricane ultimate cost increased from 3,100 to 3,400, slowing down her ultimate gain rate. Meanwhile, the Jeff-Nado combo now takes slightly longer to devour enemies, with the devour time increased from 1.2 to 1.5 seconds.

Penny Parker’s Armored Spider Nest team-up with Rocket also saw a nerf. The cooldown increased from 20 to 30 seconds after destruction, bringing it in line with other team-up cooldowns. While some players feel this is excessive, it reflects the current balance trend for strong utility skills.

The Chilling Assault combo between Luna Snow and Hawkeye was heavily nerfed. Its base damage dropped from 30 to 25, while max damage at 30 meters decreased from 120 to 100. The stun duration beyond 30 meters was cut in half, from 1.5 seconds to 0.8, and the splash radius shrank from 3 meters to 1 meter. This all-around nerf makes the combo less oppressive and more skill-based.

Bug Fixes and Game File Discoveries

Bug fixes this patch cover several heroes. Wolverine’s ultimate no longer launches unstoppable enemies incorrectly. Mr. Fantastic’s Flexible Elongation no longer causes terrain self-KOs. Hulk’s Incredible Leap UI has been corrected, and Ultron’s Imperative Patch glitch has been resolved. Black Widow’s team-up with Punisher now correctly damages destructible objects.

Soooo moon Knight will (probably) get a phoenix skin. My take is they will create a new "Phoenix five" group. Who could be the other four?

Interestingly, Psylocke.gg found unused voice lines in the game files referencing anti-heal effects. These may point to a future mechanic similar to Overwatch’s Ana. Additionally, “on fire” voice lines hint at a scrapped system where players on hot streaks receive visual/audio cues, possibly to return in future builds. Expect more Phoenix Force skins to drop as Season 3 ramps up, hinting at a larger themed rollout.
