Marvel Rivals is expanding its roster once again with the arrival of Jubilee in Season 9: The Mystery of Thebes. Launching on July 10, the iconic X-Men mutant joins the game as a Strategist, introducing a support-focused kit that blends her signature fireworks with powerful team utility.
Jubilee Arrives as a New Strategist
Jubilee joins Marvel Rivals as one of the game’s newest Strategist heroes. While many players expected her to fill a more offensive role, NetEase Games has designed her as a support character capable of helping teammates while still applying pressure to enemies.
Her abilities revolve around generating colorful pyrotechnic plasma, allowing her to launch radiant energy projectiles across the battlefield. According to the developers, her kit combines these iconic mutant powers with vampiric traits introduced during Season 9, creating a unique mix of offensive and supportive abilities.
Season 9 Story Gives Jubilee a New Role
Jubilee’s arrival is tied directly to the storyline of The Mystery of Thebes.
During the Timestream Entanglement event, her son Shogo becomes trapped in his dragon form. Desperate to save him, Jubilee travels to Thebes and seeks the help of Apocalypse. As part of that journey, she ultimately becomes Apocalypse’s Horseman of Famine, placing her at the center of the season’s narrative.
The storyline expands Marvel Rivals’ ongoing interpretation of the Age of Apocalypse universe while introducing new connections between mutant and supernatural characters.
New Cosmetics and Egyptian-Themed Content
Season 9 also introduces a new Egyptian-inspired battlefield based on Thebes, reflecting the season’s apocalyptic setting.
Alongside her default appearance, Jubilee will receive a Midnight Mutant skin that embraces the season’s vampire theme. The cosmetic gives the X-Men hero a darker look while fitting into the supernatural aesthetic introduced throughout the update.
