Some names have been hinted at directly in-game, others uncovered through voice lines, early concept art, or confirmed files. Here’s a breakdown of the most exciting characters expected to join the game soon.
Jean Grey Could Arrive in Season 3
The most prominent tease so far involves Jean Grey, also known as the Phoenix. A reference to “Jean Grey… Marvel” was spotted on the event page for the current season, taken directly from a data page in the KCOA-era comics. This lines up with earlier leaks and in-game files showing Phoenix voice lines where characters like Emma Frost reference her directly.
Phoenix appears to have both a human and Phoenix form, with powers ranging from telekinetic abilities to resurrection-style ultimates. Her transition into the Phoenix form could happen upon death when her ultimate is ready, allowing her to revive and unleash powerful abilities like Phoenix Ray and Phoenix Punishment. She remains one of the five unreleased heroes currently in the game files and looks to be close to finished.
Elixir Mentioned But Not Yet Confirmed
Another hero name-dropped on the same event screen was Joshua Foley, aka Elixir. He’s known in the comics for his role in the resurrection protocol on KCOA and possesses strong healing powers. His appearance sparked speculation among fans, especially due to his visual similarities with Adam Warlock. However, unlike Phoenix, Elixir doesn’t currently appear in the game files and has no voice lines or leaked abilities. This mention may be a reference only, tying into lore-heavy elements like Ultron’s resurrection arc involving Cerebro and the KCOA protocol.
Ultron Confirmed for Season 2.5
One of the biggest confirmations this week is Ultron’s official in-game reveal. Slated to drop on May 30th as the Season 2.5 hero, Ultron will be a strategist. The leaks have been accurate, showing his primary attack, the Encephil Ray, and drones that heal both a targeted teammate and nearby allies. His ultimate is expected to be a dual-purpose beam, dealing damage and healing in a way similar to Overwatch’s Moira.
Ultron’s mobility also includes limited flight or gliding. His origin story in the game ties back to Tony Stark reviving one of the Ultron drones, turning him into a strategist instead of a villain. Everything shown in the latest hero select screen supports this.
Red Hulk and Colossus Spotted in Early Concepts
During the Marvel Rivals art vision reveal, concept art showed what looked like Red Hulk in an early hero wheel. While many hoped this signaled his arrival, it’s now believed this was early concept work that later became the current green Hulk. It’s unlikely Red Hulk will be added soon, given the lack of in-game references or file leaks.
Colossus, on the other hand, was subtly teased in artwork created for the Wolverine MVP animation. In the image, he’s seen performing the iconic fastball special. This coincides with leaks about Colossus being an upcoming Vanguard, with moves like Giant Punch and Steel Colossus. A Magneto voice line also references Wolverine and Colossus teaming up, further confirming his arrival.
Demon Days Skins for Loki and Hela (Marvel Rivals Heroes)
Rounding out this week’s update are new skins for Loki and Hela, both drawn from the Demon Days comic series. These skins, designed by Peach Momoko, bring a unique stylized look to the characters. While they aren’t over-the-top in design, the visuals stay true to the aesthetic and are expected to drop this Friday. Along with the skins, new MVP animations and cosmetics will follow later in the week.
