Blade is finally making his debut in Marvel Rivals, and leaked gameplay gives us a full look at how he’ll play once he drops on August 8 as part of Season 3.5. While his abilities are subject to change, this early footage shows off an exciting melee-focused duelist with serious brawler potential.

Let’s break down everything shown so far—his block, primary weapons, blood effects, and that insane Dracula-powered ultimate.
Blade’s Damage Block Ability in Marvel Rivals
In the latest video from Rivals Info, we get our first look at Blade’s block ability, likely mapped to right-click. This move uses Dracula’s sword to enter a defensive stance that lasts about three seconds. While active, Blade emits a red glow and takes reduced damage from the front—though he remains vulnerable from behind.
You can move freely while using this block, which gives it flexibility in tight fights. It’s a great addition to a sword-based kit, helping him survive during aggressive melee trades. Combined with his lifesteal mechanics, this block adds real staying power.
Blood Liberation and Life Steal Mechanics
We also see Blood Liberation in action again. This ability temporarily activates Blade’s vampiric state. Visually, it spawns a ghostly red silhouette behind him—an effect possibly borrowed from Hawkeye’s ultimate during early development.
While this is active, Blade cannot receive healing from teammates. Instead, all damage he deals restores his own health. It’s a classic risk-reward tradeoff, pushing you to play aggressively if you want to stay alive. You also seem to gain wallhack vision, allowing Blade to track enemies through walls—another massive advantage in flanks and ambushes.
Blade’s Ultimate Ability Does Massive Damage
Now for the big one: Blade’s ultimate. After activation, a charge meter appears, and you can hold the attack to increase its range. Once released, Blade dashes forward in a straight line, slashing the entire area in front of him with Dracula’s sword. The path is clearly marked with a glowing red rectangle.
Enemies caught in this slash zone take massive AoE damage. In the footage, Punisher, Luna Snow, and even The Thing are nearly deleted in seconds. The ultimate appears to deal around 500 damage, which can wipe squishy heroes and chunk tanks hard.
Combo this with crowd-control from allies like Groot, and it becomes a team-wiping nuke in choke points.
Full Kit: Sword Combos, Shotgun, and Anti-Heal (Blade x Marvel Rivals)
Here’s a quick rundown of Blade’s other abilities based on current footage:
-
Primary Melee: Four-hit sword combo dealing ~45 damage per slash.
-
Secondary Weapon: A Hunting Shotgun. Body shots do 50 damage; headshots hit for 85. At longer ranges, the shot seems to spread and possibly explode—similar to Roadhog from Overwatch.
-
Health: 300 HP, fitting for a front-line duelist role.
-
Shift Ability:
-
With shotgun: Charges forward, knocks enemies back, and applies anti-heal.
-
With sword: Spins to knock enemies back and deals bonus follow-up damage.
-
Overall, his kit screams aggressive melee brawler with just enough tools to stay alive mid-fight. Blood Liberation and Damage Block work together to create a loop where Blade can stay in the fight and regenerate.
Blade vs Magik and Meta Placement
Many are comparing Blade to Magik, another sword-focused hero. While Magik leans more into mobility and arcane damage, Blade offers brute force, regeneration, and anti-heal pressure. It’ll be fascinating to see how the two stack up once players can test them both side by side.
With Gan Gray and Blade both arriving on August 8, some players are concerned about getting two duelists in one patch. But with Marvel Rivals planning monthly hero releases, it seems fair. Blade’s design feels unique enough to stand out and find a place in the evolving meta.
