Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has many quests that take players into emotionally and morally complex journeys. The side quest “Hush My Darling” is one such mission, turning a simple blacksmithing task into an eventual investigation and a race against time.
A hidden timer and multiple endings can set you up easily for failure, but succeeding may grant you an achievement. Here’s how to complete the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Hush My Darling quest successfully and in the quickest way.
Finding and Starting the Quest
The quest starts in Miskowitz, a small village located in the center of the Kuttenberg region. Players must speak with Martha, the blacksmith’s wife, who can be found in her house next to the smithy on the east side of town. She’ll ask you to craft two sets of horseshoes. You have two options to do this;
- Craft yourself using the smithy (requires 1x Scrap Metal per horseshoe)
- Buy them from another blacksmith
If you choose to craft them, talk to the local blacksmith first to get permission to use his forge. You can also attempt a Medium Craftsmanship check to have him provide the materials. Deliver the horseshoes to Martha, who will ask you to deliver them to Victoria, who lives nearby.
Finding Victoria
This part of the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Hush My Darling quest will imply that a horrible thing has happened to Victoria. You’ll be met with blood on the floor of the left room in Victoria’s house (located southeast of Martha’s). Victoria is also nowhere to be found.
Return to Martha immediately to report what you’ve discovered.
Martha will share that Victoria had several suitors, including a local farmer named Kuba. He will be marked on the map, but talking to him is optional.
- Note: If you do want to talk to Farmer Kuba, he’ll be at the tavern during the day. After exhausting all dialogue options, you’ll likely end up in a fistfight with him. Once defeated, he’ll reveal that Victoria had been seeing a soldier from Sigismund’s camp.
Since talking to Kuba is optional, you can also just head straight to Sigismund’s camp instead.
However, make sure to prepare or purchase a Digestive Potion from the Apothecary, as you’ll need it later.
Sigismund’s Camp
Head to Sigismund’s camp on the hill northwest of Miskowitz. Tell the guards at the entrance that you’re delivering horseshoes from the Miskowitz blacksmith.
Inside, ask around about Victoria, and you’ll be directed to the camp’s blacksmith on the north side. Exhaust all dialogue options about Victoria and he’ll eventually tell you about Black, a soldier who was seeing Victoria. The blacksmith mentions that Black is currently in the field infirmary.
Go to the field infirmary near the western entrance, looking for tents on the east side. You’ll find Black sick in bed. Examine him, concluding he needs a Digestive Potion. After giving him the potion, he’ll reveal Victoria’s location and the situation.
Save Victoria
Time-sensitive: This part of the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Hush My Darling quest is timed. If you delay too long, Victoria may die.
You can do the quest in two ways that will both give you the “Henry the Matchmaker” achievement.
Option 1: Find Victoria first and Bring Black to meet her
- Hurry to the forest east of the camp. If you’re quick enough, you’ll find Victoria alive. If you took too long, you’ll find her dead, ending the quest in failure.
- When you find Victoria alive, you’ll learn she’s pregnant with Black’s child. Pick the bottom option, “Hang in a while longer. I’ll be back”.
- Go back to Black in the camp and knock him out. It’ll be nighttime by then, so you’ll have to sneak around our stealth kill some soldiers.
- Bring Black’s unconscious body to Victoria and talk to Victoria again to get them to talk. This will give you the achievement.
Option 2: Bring Black to Victoria straight away
- After healing Black, you’ll get the marker for Victoria’s location in the forest. Knock Black straight away.
- A guard will enter the tent. Instead of picking a fight, opt to pay him the fine. This will make carrying Black out of the camp easier as the other soldiers would just let you be.
- Carry Black’s body to Victoria’s location. This is the quickest way to do the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Hush My Darling quest. It also ensures that you wouldn’t end up seeing Victoria dead.
- Talk to Victoria and select the “Hang in a while longer. I’ll be back” option, then talk to her again to get the achievement.
Both options will end in Black and Victoria talking. However, Black will take off, asking to be left alone. This will take Victoria back to her senses. She’ll be resolved to return to the village and not let anyone treat her as a pushover. This is the best ending for the Hush My Darling quest. Other options will leave Victoria alive and send her to either Martha or the Devil’s Den.
Conclusion
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Hush My Darling is one of the more emotionally engaging side quests in the game, with multiple possible outcomes depending on your choices and timing. Whatever ending you get, you’ll gain insight into the complex social dynamics of medieval Bohemia.
