So you’ve just completed the Source of Inspiration quest? Lucky you, the Chiaroscuro quest Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is right on its heels. It couldn’t be a better time to lead you into another fun quest! If you’re looking for a quest with a bit of exploration, dialogue, and danger, you need the Chiaroscuro quest next. So let’s get into all the things you need to know to complete this quest successfully.
Starting the Quest

Before you start off the “Chiaroscuro” quest from Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you need to finish the first quest, “Source of Inspiration” from the Brushes With Death DLC. Once you finish the first quest, you have two options to start “Chiaroscuro”. You can meet Voyta, the mysterious painter, at the Veles shrine. Alternatively, you wait 24 hours in-game to meet him at Trosky Castle and start the new quest. Voyta will then tell you that he needs a basilisk egg in order to start the quest.
Find the Black Cockerel’s Egg

Set out for the village of Semine first. Talk to Farmer Slavek, and engage him in a conversation about that mysterious Black Cockerel. If you passed the basic skill check (helped by wearing good charisma gear), you learn that the clucker was buried behind a dung heap south of Semine.
As you wander into the location, keep in mind you have two attacking dogs to contend with. You can either fight them or sneak by them. But no matter what, you need to carefully remove the Black Cockerel egg from the dung heap adjacent to the dead bird once you are free of the dogs.
Transform the Black Cockerel Egg into a Basilisk Egg

Now that you have obtained the Black Cockerel Egg, you have to find a toad’s nest located in the swamp southwest of Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn. To perform the ritual, you will need to set the Black Cockerel Egg down quietly at the base of the tree in the toad’s nest area, before waiting 24 in-game hours while the egg transforms. You may use this opportunity to rest or do some other activity while the egg changes. Once you return, the egg has transformed into a Basilisk Egg, and you can pick it up from the nest.
Deliver the Basilisk Egg to Voyta

When you have the Basilisk Egg, return to Trosky Castle, and that’s where Voyta will be. Once you complete the delivery and engage in dialogue, you’ll also complete the quest and receive a Gemstone Silver Ring. In addition, if you continue to engage the most conversation options with Voyta, you can increase your reputation with him. You can unlock new shield painting symbols, as well as trigger the next quest, Portrait in Red.
Conclusion

Completing the Chiaroscuro quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 gives you a feeling of accomplishment and some sparkling new loot. However, it is only a small part of the chapters in the artistic odyssey of Voyta’s Brushes With Death DLC. You’ve brought a little magic into the life of a painter and set the stage for more quests to come. After a brief wait in the game, the next quest, Portrait in Red.
