How to Start the Quest
The KCD2 A Sketchy Situation quest requires the completion of the main story quest “For Whom the Bell Tolls” first. This unlocks Trosky Castle, which is northwest of the location you’ll have to visit for the DLC quest. Once finished, look for a purple marker on your map.
Head to this location to find Master Voyta tied to a tree, talking to a human skull. As you approach him, a cutscene triggers where Henry offers help. However, two wolves will attack you immediately.
Rescuing Master Voyta
Defend yourself and Master Voyta from the wolves. For players pursuing the “Lent” achievement (no killing animals), you can hit or kick them without weapons. This would shoo them away or knock them unconscious.
After defeating the wolves, untie Master Voyta. He’ll talk to you for a while, and during the conversation, ask you to bring him the following things:
- The painter’s set of brushes (required)
- Three painter’s dice (optional)
He claims that these items were stolen from him by the thieves.
Finding the Stolen Items
The next objective in KCD2 A Sketchy Situation takes you south of your starting position. Head to the yellow search area marked on your map, specifically to its center. There, you’ll find two bandits camping between trees:
- Yura – has the paint brushes
- Four-Leaf Clovis – has the three dice
You can choose to recover Voyta’s belongings through three different ways:
- Beating up the bandits: Simply fight the bandits and loot their bodies. You can use unarmed combat to knock them unconscious if you don’t want to be too violent.
- Diplomatic approach:
- Talk to Yura and say “The Painter Sent Me.” If you pass the speech check, you can challenge him to a shooting contest for the brushes (costs 100 groschen).
- Speak with Four-Leaf Clovis and say “I’ve come for the painter’s stuff.” Pass the speech check to wager 50 groschen in a dice game for his items.
- Robbing the bandits: If you don’t want to waste your money or engage in a fight, you can wait until they fall asleep. You can then steal their items without confrontation. You might need multiple pickpocketing attempts, especially for all three dice from Clovis.
Exhausting all dialogue options with both bandits will get them to tell you that Voyta lied to you. They’ll reveal that the Master wasn’t entirely truthful about how he ended up tied to a tree.
Returning to Master Voyta
Return to Trosky Castle to find Master Voyta, who’d most likely be in the west wing, upstairs. He’s usually in a room connected to the scribe’s office. Talk to him and return the items.
If you got the bandits to talk about Master Voyta’s lie earlier, you’ll be able to confront him about it. With a successful speech check, he’ll admit that he provoked them. However, he won’t elaborate any further than that.
After this, you would complete the KCD2 A Sketchy Situation quest and reward you with:

- Ability to paint shields
