Release and Gameplay Info
Monster Hunter: Wilds is scheduled for release on February 28, 2025. This is a relatively distant launch date, indicating that this game is still in active development. As what was mentioned, Capcom is likely keeping their options open to ensure they have enough time to polish the game.
Though the game is still under review, it will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. You can pre-purchase the game in Steam for $69.99 and $89.99. There’s no mention of a Nintendo Switch version, which is interesting given the success of Monster Hunter rise on that platform.
Game Features
There are distinct changes in Monster Hunter Wilds’ environment. There are three types of environments:
-
- Fallow
- Inclemency
- Plenty
They also introduced two ecosystems which are “Scarlet Forest” and “Windward Plains”.
You can reach the lush Scarlet Forest with its tall trees and plenty of water by following the river that flows across the Windward Plains.Your gaze is drawn to the unusual reddish-brown water on the forest floor as you walk here for the first time. This land is hit by an Inclemency called the Downpour, which is an overflow of rain that floods the surrounding area.
On the other hand, the first hunting area you’ll encounter is the Windward Plains. The Windward Plains have a vast area which includes sand deserts. Natural features include undulating grasslands, twisted rock formations, and more. This area experiences an Inclemency called the Sandtide, a huge sandstorm that is destructive and thunderous.
The Seikret is described as a bird-like creature, implying it might have flight or gliding capabilities. The Seikret can auto-follow targets, allowing players to use ranged weapons while mounted.
Crashes and Issues
The focus on current-gen consoles and PC suggests that Monster Hunter: Wilds may have technical requirements or features that wouldn’t be possible on older hardware.
Other than that, Issues included disappearing character models and flickering monster textures. The reviewer noted that Nona’s character model completely disappeared after a rescue scene. Such issues could make it difficult to read monster behaviors or interact with NPCs.
Nevertheless, the game is still under the polishing and refining of it’s graphics and players are expecting that when the game releases, these specific technical issues will be fixed.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Game Review
There are a lot of implications that there are glitches or major bugs that need to be fixed, but as players, it’s a need to understand that the developers are still in the process of fixing these said complaints before the game’s official global release.
Despite the complaints, Monster Hunter Wilds is worth buying for its amazing open-world exploration, enchanting characters, and the lore this game holds.
