Is inZOI Worth Playing? | GAME REVIEW

InZOI finally hit the early access phase on March 28, 2025, letting players experience a new life simulation game. Will InZOI be finally a contender against the long-reigning Sims franchise? Take a deep dive into this new Krafton’s title, InZOI, game review

Stunning Visuals, If Your PC Can Handle Them

Photorealistic graphics are one of the striking edges of InZOI against its other competitors. It distanced itself from the cartoonist aesthetic of Sims and aimed for hyper-realism in character and world design. This makes the visual genuinely impressive, creating an immersive simulation experience.

Yet, a disadvantage to this high-quality visual is the difficulty of meeting the game’s minimum specs. This makes it less accessible to all players, contrary to the Sims franchise. You’ll need higher hardware specs to enjoy the game at its full photorealistic potential. On the other hand, it’ll still run for gaming PCs from the past 2-4 years set under the lower settings.

So this might be a dealbreaker for some casual players as it is difficult to meet the requirement for optimized visuals. Moreover, playing at lower settings loses the appeal of the game.

Best-in-Class Character Creation

One of the best features observed in this InZOI game review is its character creator. It has a remarkable level of customization by allowing players to adjust minute details for a unique Zois. They can precisely edit the facial features, and design custom clothing with their own patterns and textures as well as color palettes.

Besides, the building tools are also commendable as they won’t require you to use mods. Instead, it is directly integrated into the InZOI’s interface, creating unlimited opportunities for interaction. So from creating custom meshes and free-placing items, there are plenty of things you can do in this. It’s like creating a true character of your own, transforming your vision into a reality.

Life Simulation or Empty Existence?

However, InZOI felt a miss when it comes to its core gameplay. The impressive visual display and customization weren’t enough to keep interest. The actual life simulation feels shallow and unrewarding with its routine. The character’s life circles around eating, sleeping, work, and minimal meaningful interactions. It fails to provide recreational activities the character can enjoy.

Also, the relationship lacks depth despite the interaction tracker used. The relationships rather feel more mechanical than emotional despite formed connections, marriage, and created family. The married Zois even begin with a neutral relationship, forcing the players to build intimacy from scratch.

Moreover, the job only serves as “rabbit holes” where Zois would disappear to work but has little player involvement. The workdays also feel tediously long despite playing at maximum speed. None of the activities also feel actually rewarding or engaging to interact with. The tasks barely seek personality from the Zois, giving them robotic feels.

The AI Factor: Innovation or Concern?

On one side, InZOI becomes controversial after heavily incorporating AI technology into the game. It features AI-powered customization tools where players can generate patterns and textures by providing a description. Initially, it appears impressive with simple requests however falters when met with complex ones.

Plus, they are also working on developing “AI Smart Zoi” which allows players to peek into Zois’ thoughts. This might influence their behavior and players’ decisions as they progress in the game. While it is still in its experimental stage, more simulation features may come out in future updates.

Krafton also addressed the concerns growing over the excessive AI features in the game. They claimed that all of their AI features within the InZOI are their proprietary models. These are trained using only company-owned data and copyright-issue-free assets. It doesn’t feed on all available resources you can search for online. Still, some players remained skeptical of these features as they grew concerned over their impact on artistic jobs.

Final Thoughts

Should you play this Krafton’s latest title, InZOI, instead of Sims? Well, only you can decide on it after reading the insights provided in this InZOI game review. While it has impressive photorealistic graphics and character creators,  some may feel that the core gameplay is lacking when it comes to interaction varieties. Moreover, it is not as accessible as other simulation games, which is a downside to it. Still, give it a chance if you ever want a different life simulation game.
