Supernova Games Studios introduced Assetto Corsa Rally as an entry to the rally racing genre. The racing game launched as an early access title on November 13, 2025 for $24. So far, it appears promising by delivering a rally experience that outplays even known titles like Dirt Rally 2. Here’s a review of Assetto Corsa Rally and whether it lives up to its hype!
A New Standard for Rally Simulation
For the first time in the genre, Assetto Corsa Rally introduced fully laser-scanned courses in rally racing. Supernova meticulously scanned every inch of their rally stages unlike previous rally games that only approximate real-world locations. So, you’ll see roads which are exactly as wide or narrow as they are in reality.
You’ll even experience the bumps and other ditches beyond the driveable surface. It launches with four full stages across two locations such as the snaking tarmac of Rally Alsace in northeastern France and wonderland of Hafren in Welsh Hills. However, its options remain limited compared to other rally titles.
Brutally Realistic Physics
Assetto Corsa Rally stands out with its handling model, instantly recognizable by experienced players. If you previously played Dirt Rally 2, EA WRC, and such, you will notice the difference in grip levels. The game doesn’t massage your inputs or give you that extra second to catch a drift.
Here, trail braking becomes essential as steering during brake is virtually impossible. So even dropping a tire or two off course can be punishing. Zero traction and deep ruts will send you cartwheeling into the forest.
Its 10-car roster offers all drivetrain types, letting you work on your own playstyle. Some smart players start with low-power front-wheel drive hatchbacks like Peugeot before upgrading to top-flight WRC machines. The Lancia Stratos remains a widowmaker by requiring you a full steering wheel setup to tame properly.
Stunning Visuals and Solid Performance
Despite concerns about Unreal Engine 5’s shader stutter issues, Assetto Corsa Rally manages to deliver exceptional performance. It runs at high 60s to low 80s fps on mid-tier hardware while at 1440p for high settings. This surpasses EA Sports WRC’s troubled launch if you can still recall.
The micro-stutters present are minimal as well and vanish quickly which did not affect the gameplay flow. It also features a dynamic time of day that lets you watch the sun rise over wet Welsh tracks. The in-car view feels authentic with subtle vibrations and narrower field of view to resemble broadcast footage.
Even the damage modeling includes extensive details. It had car shedding entire panels, the doors springing open during Scandi-flicks, and vehicles limping into service parks.
Early Access Content and Future Promises
For now, Assetto Corsa Rally’s garage remains limited to offering 10 cars and 4 full stages broken into smaller segments. As it is still in Early Access, there’s no career mode, rally school, or VR support yet available. However, Supernova promised a full 1.0 release within 18 months, releasing additional cars, special stages and configurations.
Alongside, it will introduce a career mode, rally school, and even VR support. Most players view the limited Early Access content unjustifiable for a $30 price tag for now. It is best to wait for more development instead and get the full experience.
