The latest iRacing Season 4 update is shaping up to be one of the most comprehensive in years. From the long-awaited sim UI overhaul to the introduction of iconic cars like the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO and Ford Mustang GT4, this build marks a milestone for both realism and accessibility in the sim racing world.
Aston Martin and Ford Lead the Charge in GT Racing
GT3 and GT4 racers are getting major upgrades this season. The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO joins iRacing as part of an ongoing collaboration with Aston Martin and real-world professional racers. It brings refined handling, advanced aerodynamics, and top-tier visuals.
Meanwhile, the Ford Mustang GT4 introduces the first North American brand to the GT4 roster. Alongside the new car comes a full physics and model overhaul for all GT4 vehicles. This update refines traction control, ABS, engine torque, and tire behavior to better reflect the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge rule set. Despite reduced grip, lap times will actually drop by half to a full second depending on conditions — showing how realism and performance can align beautifully.
Open-Wheel and Hybrid Innovations
The Dallara IL-15, featured in the Indy NXT series, speeds into the lineup with a 2.0 L turbocharged engine packing 450 horsepower. Classified as a C-Class car, it’s ideal for drivers seeking a high-speed open-wheel experience across both road and oval series.
iRacing’s hybrid systems also received a fundamental overhaul. The update improves integration for hybrid power units across multiple classes, including GTP, Hypercar, and Formula 1 models like the Mercedes W12 and Mercedes W13. This rework adds flexibility for future hybrid cars — ensuring that both manual and automatic energy deployment systems behave as their real-world counterparts do.
New Tracks and Visual Refreshes
Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez debuts this season, bringing the vibrant racing spirit of Mexico City to iRacing with seven distinct configurations. At an altitude of 2,200 meters, cars experience lower drag and less downforce — leading to faster straights and trickier corners.
Classic tracks also see love: Oulton Park receives a full art refresh, and the NASCAR Refresh Project concludes with updates to Daytona, COTA, Watkins Glen, Chicago Street Course, and Texas Motor Speedway. Owners of these tracks get the upgrades free of charge.
Looking ahead, the FIA Cross Car will join in December as part of the dirt-road expansion, alongside new off-road environments at Lucas Oil Speedway and upcoming scans for St. Petersburg Street Circuit.
A Modernized Sim UI and Engine Advancements
The new sim UI is the headliner for this build. Designed for accessibility and customization, it merges replay and graphics settings, adds tooltips, a redesigned options layout, and a dynamic camera tool accessible via session screens. The new interface also supports layout customization through Alt + K, giving racers a personalized cockpit feel.
Localization now supports Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Portuguese, expanding iRacing’s global reach. Behind the scenes, texture compression improvements boost performance and reduce load times.
The rendering engine also progresses toward a new visual frontier, introducing dynamic tree shadows and enhanced lighting systems. Multi-core optimizations in the physics and AI pipeline promise lower latency and smoother performance for every racer.
What’s Next for iRacing
Beyond this update, iRacing’s roadmap includes refreshed physics for LMP1 cars, better dirt-oval tire modeling, and even animated pit stops for major classes. The development team is also working on the Miami International Autodrome for a future season, continuing to expand its global circuit library.
With the iRacing Season 4 Update, the sim enters a new era — one defined by realistic hybrid systems, refined GT handling, and a sleek interface built for the long haul. For veterans and newcomers alike, this build sets the stage for the next phase of virtual motorsport excellence.
