What can you customize?
Just like any game there is, you can customize the hair, face, body, sex, and specialization or better known in other games as “class”. In Dragon Age, it consists of three classes. You can start as either Mage, Warrior, or Rogue with specializations that can be unlocked later on in the game.
Other than the three classes to choose from, there are also four different Dragon Age races. These are the Human, Elf, Dwarf, and Qunari. The options come along with a gender as well. You can choose from male, female, or even non-binary.
Character Appearance
In Appearance, you have about 9 categories that customizes everything from your head, body, eyes, mouth, ears, make-up and markings. Each of them has subcategories that gives you further control over your character. Apart from this, you also have control over lighting conditions that gives you a view of how your character will look in different environments.
When customizing the head, advanced triangle sliders are available where it allows you to tweak the head’s shape. This is to help you match the character’s head to the body of your choice. The game also offers preset options for easier customization. For the body, sliders are also available with further adjustments available for details like height and shoulder width.
There are 88 different hairstyle options for both male and female characters, with options to modify the color and saturation. Moreover, you have access to makeup customization, which includes preset choices or can be tailored to your preference. You can further personalize your character by adding scars, tattoos, or markings.
Factions
Under the customization, it also has 6 factions including some that are returning from the previous Dragon Age games. There are the Grey Wardens that you may be familiar with. Veil Jumpers, Shadow Dragons, Lords of Fortune, Mourn Watch, and Antivan Crows are also options to choose from. The factions each have their own description as well as the number of their bonuses.
Whichever faction you choose, the first benefit is a reputation boost. Initially, you’ll gain reputation more quickly, helping you reach maximum reputation faster and unlock all the faction items. Completing missions will also grant you access to faction-specific loot.
Party composition
As in most BioWare games, companions in Dragon Age offer different perspectives that influence your decisions and bring interesting, deep backstories for you to explore as you build relationships with them. These connections can impact the story significantly, especially since companions might leave or even die based on your choices. In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, there are seven companions you can recruit, each with a unique backstory, faction, and personal goals.
