How to Skip the Festival in Deltarune Chapter 5

Players returning to Deltarune Chapter 5 don’t have to replay the lengthy Festival sequence every time. While the opening event is mandatory during your first run, Toby Fox included a built-in shortcut that lets you skip it on subsequent playthroughs once you’ve cleared the chapter.

Can You Skip the Festival?

No, not on your first playthrough.

The Festival skip only becomes available after you’ve completed Chapter 5 in its entirety. That means defeating the final boss, watching the ending, and creating a completed Chapter 5 save file. Once the game recognizes that you’ve already finished the chapter, the skip option is permanently unlocked for future runs.

This feature is designed for repeat playthroughs, allowing players to revisit later sections of the chapter without replaying the extended opening.

How to Skip the Festival

After unlocking the feature, begin Chapter 5 as usual and watch the opening sequence where Kris attempts to retrieve their SOUL from the cage.

Once you’re able to move freely, head to the bed on the right side of Kris’ room and interact with it. The game will ask if you want to go to sleep, warning that doing so will cause you to miss important story events.

Choose to sleep, and the screen will fade to black. When Kris wakes up, you’ll be transported directly to the Flower Shop Dark World, bypassing the entire Festival sequence.

What Happens After Skipping?

Skipping the Festival doesn’t alter the rest of the chapter. Progression resumes from the Flower Shop Dark World, and the story continues normally.

There are also no additional dialogue changes acknowledging the skipped content. Characters, including Susie, behave as though the Festival has already taken place, allowing you to continue your playthrough without affecting the chapter’s overall progression.

For players hunting collectibles, experimenting with different choices, or challenging Chapter 5’s secret boss, the Festival skip significantly reduces the time needed to reach the chapter’s later sections. Since the Festival is intended to be experienced at least once, the unlock requirement ensures first-time players see its story content before gaining the option to bypass it on future runs.
