How to Play LEGO Fortnite Expeditions: Hero Classes and Tools Explained

LEGO Fortnite Expeditions officially launches June 18, introducing a major PvE expansion built around co-op gameplay, hero progression, and mission-based structure. The new mode kicks off at Supernova Academy, a hub where players meet characters like Vengeance Jones, Hope, and Knight Rose, receive assignments, and dive into missions against Daigo—the evil Mass Maker threatening the world.

Players can form squads of up to four and take on mission terminals that launch into Utopia City, the Spire Evacuation Site, or Busted Bridge. Each area includes objectives such as evacuating civilians, installing fuel generators, and locating hidden gear caches. All progress contributes to global team projects, unlocking new buffs and missions across the community.

Hero Classes: Shadow Caller, Hunter, and Rift Ripper

Three hero classes headline the update, each offering unique playstyles and skill trees. Players can freely swap between:

  • Shadow Caller: A mobility-heavy class capable of transforming into ravens, launching explosive shadow projectiles, and healing allies.

  • Hunter: A single-target assassin that uses grappling hooks, trap dodges, and the Bullseye Blade to maximize critical damage.

  • Rift Ripper: A crowd-control powerhouse utilizing rift crystals and rift jumps to boost team damage and armor.

Players earn hero XP and unlock upgrades by completing missions and defeating enemies, with each class supporting distinct builds and strategy.

Tools of the Trade: New LEGO Fortnite Weapons

Expeditions also introduces a randomized tool system. Players can exchange essence (dropped from enemies) at vendors in the Academy to receive one of several powerful weapons:

  • Dual Daggers: Fast-striking blades with charged dash attacks and AoE spin combos.

  • Warhammer: A heavy two-handed weapon that delivers wide damage and offers defensive dodges.

  • Plasma Pistols: Ranged dual-wield firearms with hip fire, ADS options, and spinning charge dashes.

These weapons will be craftable in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey starting June 18.

Daigo’s Army: New Enemy Types and Final Boss Fight

Players will face off against Daigo’s minions, starting with Light and Heavy Demon Guards who mirror player weapons and tactics. Mid-tier bosses like Core, a fast-moving elite with summoning abilities, pose more serious threats. Meanwhile, towering Titans challenge full squads and require careful coordination.

At the top of the food chain stands Mass Maker Daigo, the campaign’s central villain. Confronting him will require mastery of hero mechanics, full weapon loadouts, and effective teamwork.

What’s Coming to Odyssey From Expeditions

While Expeditions focuses on action, LEGO Fortnite Odyssey will see some cross-content integration. Starting June 18:

  • Players can craft Expedition weapons in Odyssey.

  • Spire structures will activate in July, spawning Expedition enemies.

  • Hero classes will arrive in Odyssey in future updates.

LEGO Fortnite confirms that while decorations and base-building won’t carry over into Expeditions, hero progress and weapon mechanics will link back to traditional survival mode in meaningful ways.
