One of the first major objectives in Big Walk is unlocking the Red Bridge, which blocks the path to the next area. To do this, your group must collect four special key items—commonly referred to as Gourds—and use them to create a key.
Each Gourd is hidden behind its own cooperative puzzle, so communication and teamwork are essential. Once you’ve collected all four, you’ll be able to forge a key and open the bridge.
How to Unlock the Red Bridge
The main key mechanism contains four empty slots.
After finding a Gourd:
- Have one player stand on the nearby switch.
- Another player places the Gourd into one of the slots.
- Remove the newly revealed key from the mechanism.
With the unfinished key in hand, you’ll need to reshape it using several nearby altars.
Each altar points toward the location of the next one with a directional arrow. Continue following the chain until you’ve visited every altar.
Once the key has been fully shaped, return to the Red Bridge and use it to unlock the gate leading to the next section of Big Walk.
Puzzle 1 – Telescope Gourd
Starting from the key mechanism, face the Red Bridge and walk up the hill on the right.
At the top you’ll find:
- A telescope
- A button
- A distant locked container
Pressing the button briefly unlocks the container, but only while it’s activated.
How to Solve It
This puzzle requires at least two players:
- One player remains beside the telescope and repeatedly presses the button.
- The second player runs to the distant container while it’s unlocked and grabs the Gourd.
Carry the Gourd back to the central key mechanism.
Puzzle 2 – Yellow Structure Gourd
Near the color-changing station you’ll find a tall yellow L-shaped structure with another Gourd hanging from the top.
A switch is mounted high above the ground, making it impossible to reach alone.
How to Solve It
Work together by stacking players.
One teammate should:
- Pick up another player.
- Lift them high enough to reach the switch.
After activating it, the Gourd becomes accessible and can be collected.
Puzzle 3 – Blue House Gourd
Return toward the entrance of the area and follow the cliff path on the left until you reach a blue building.
Inside is a cooperative communication puzzle.
How to Solve It
Split your group into two roles:
- One player enters the room and examines the sequence of symbols.
- Another player remains outside and adjusts the matching panels on the wall.
The player inside must describe the correct order of the symbols.
Once the outside player matches the sequence:
- Press the nearby switch.
- If the combination is correct, confetti appears.
- The Gourd drops from its holder.
Collect it and return to the key mechanism.
Puzzle 4 – Green Structure Gourd
The final Gourd is located near a large green structure overlooking the ocean.
Several switches are mounted on different pillars surrounding the building.
How to Solve It
Every switch must be pressed at exactly the same time.
Have each player stand beside one of the switches before counting down together.
When all switches are activated simultaneously, the final Gourd is released.
Forging the Key
After placing all four Gourds into the central mechanism, remove the unfinished key.
Now visit each nearby altar in order.
Every completed altar reshapes the key slightly and points toward the location of the next one. Continue following the arrows until you’ve finished the entire sequence.
Once the key is fully forged, return to the Red Bridge and interact with the lock to open the way forward.
Tips for Solving the Puzzle Faster
- Stay together whenever possible to avoid unnecessary backtracking.
- Assign players specific roles for communication-based puzzles.
- Count down before activating switches that require perfect timing.
- Follow the altar arrows carefully after collecting the key so you don’t miss one during the forging process.
Once the Red Bridge is unlocked, your group can continue exploring the next region of Big Walk and tackle the game’s larger cooperative puzzles.
