How To Find The Dapperwing – Monster Hunter Wilds Guide

Caught a Tracktail Lizard already? Right after completing “Dareel’s Research Report”, it’s now time to search for a Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds. The researchers in the Windward Plains will continue to give you side missions about Endemic Life. This time, it’s “Samin’s Research Report” that you need to help complete. Let’s guide you through finding a Dapperwing to accomplish the quest goal.

Finding a Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds

Dapperwings are small birds that are part of Endemic Life in Monster Hunter Wilds. They are native to the lush forests of Windward Plains, particularly in the Scarlet Forest. They resemble parrots with their bright plumage, although there are times when it’s not the same vibrant colors. Depending on the season, these birds may be tricky to find.

Areas to Search for a Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds

They’re pretty much available to be found in any part of the Forest if you look hard enough. However, Dapperwings will be the most common in these Areas:

  • Area 6
  • Area 12
  • Area 17

You have more chances of spotting these birds in the daytime. They’ll be perched upon branches and most likely in pairs or flocks of three.

Additional Hint from Samin

After receiving the quest from Samin, you can talk to him again to get some hints about where and how to find a Dapperwing. He’ll then tell you a fun fact about these birds, whose feathers change colors along with the season. It’s the reason that they can be harder to find.

Samin says that Dapperwings will blend into the surroundings with deep green feathers during the Fallow. However, they’ll be easier to find in the Plenty when they molt. By that time, they’ll appear with bright rainbow-colored feathers that are so much more easier to spot even from afar.

Capturing a Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds

To capture the Dapperwing, yiu only need to equip your Capture Net similar to what you did with the Tracktail Lizards. This time, there’s no need to get a Gillie Mantle, too. Dapperwings aren’t as skittish as the sand lizards and won’t be startled as easily when you get close to them.

You can aim better and capture one without worrying about scaring them off. If they’re in a place higher than you can reach, consider mounting your Seikret for some extra height. However, there are some locations where these birds will be seen perched on lower branches and fallen tree trunks. There, you can just approach by foot.

Samin only needs one Dapperwing for you to complete the quest, but capturing multiple will give you more guild and investigation points. Like when catching Tracktail Lizards, aim and release the net again to get the other fleeing Dapperwings after you’ve already caught one

Finishing Samin’s Sidequest

Successful from your mission to catch a Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds,  you can now go back to the Base Camp in the Windward Plains. You can find Samin again opposite Dareel to report your progress to him. This completes the sidequest and he will give you 10 blue mushrooms and five honey for your trouble.

You will also get 50 guild points and some experience upon finishing this quest. It’s part of a sequence where Dareel and Samin will just alternate in give you more quests like this. The next one will come from Dareel, who will task you to find Ember Rufflizards.

Conclusion

Monster Hunter Wilds feature interesting wildlife in various habitats. The game’s vast regions truly had given the opportunity to add Endemic Life that players can watch, interact with, or have fun capturing. The Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds is just one of these creatures that make the game alive and exciting to play. They’ll be there if you’d like a bit of bird watching after slaying monsters all day long.
