Hitman: Blood Money – Reprisal, an enhanced version of the 2006 game of the same name, has launched on the Nintendo Switch today for $29.99 / £19.99 / €24.99. Feral Interactive is handling the publishing duties for this game, just as they did with its mobile ports.

Hitman: Blood Money – Reprisal gives players an updated experience of playing a classic title by implementing a modern control scheme, adding new gameplay options, and general quality-of-life upgrades. Players can also enjoy new features such as Instinct Mode and a Warning system to help them complete each mission successfully.

Released in 2006 for PC, Xbox. Xbox 360, and PlayStation 2 without the “Reprisal” in its name, Hitman: Blood Money is the fourth entry in the series and the direct sequel of Hitman: Contracts. The game was then ported to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013 as part of the Hitman HD Trilogy, and again in 2019 to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as part of the Hitman HD Enhanced Collection. Meanwhile, the Reprisal version initially released in 2023 for iOS and Android before arriving on the Switch today.

Why port a different version to the Switch?

Since the Hitman HD Enhanced Collection were never released on the Switch, it only made sense that the hybrid handheld would get a version of the cult classic eventually. Instead of downgrading many aspects of the game from the enhanced collection to make it run on the Switch, Feral Interactive decided to work on the Switch version by itself. They also added version upgrades such as the minimap and Instinct mode to make sure Switch users aren’t missing out on anything.

Hitman: Blood Money – Reprisal is also the first Hitman game to release directly onto the Switch. Although Hitman 3 predates Reprisal’s release on the Switch by three years, it’s only a cloud version.

About Hitman: Blood Money

Hitman: Blood Money follows Agent 47 as he seeks the cloning technology used to create him, all while trying to bring down a rival contract killing organization in order to protect his own. Players control Agent 47 through a third-person perspective in twelve sandbox missions, and they must do so cleanly and quietly in order to avoid notoriety and penalties.

Blood Money is also the first Hitman game that allows players to climb over obstacles, use innocent bystanders as shields, dispose of bodies, and upgrade equipment. It also introduced a new game engine, along with an improved version of unarmed combat and general graphical improvements. It released to critical and commercial acclaim in 2006, selling over 2.1 million copies while earning high remarks from reviews.

Following its success, Hitman: Blood Money was included in Hitman HD Trilogy along with its two predecessors: Hitman 2: Silent Assassin and Hitman: Contracts. Blood Money and its sequel, Hitman: Absolution, received a 4K remaster and was included in the Hitman HD Enhanced collection.
