Supergiant Games has released what appears to be the last major update for Hades 2 before the full launch. This patch brings changes to combat flow, weapon behaviors, and boss mechanics based on early access feedback. Let’s go through everything players need to know before the 1.0 version arrives.
Weapon Changes in Hades 2 July Update
Several weapon aspects now handle more cleanly during fights. The Sister Blades’ Omega Attack no longer gets interrupted by enemies mid-animation. This solves a common frustration in high-heat runs. Emerald Flames received slower Omega projectile speed, but each shot now hits harder. While this reduces synergy with rapid on-hit effects, it rewards better placement.
The Black Coat aspect performs more reliably. Its attack speed and first strike damage are higher, Omega channels faster, and the special gains better accuracy. These upgrades improve performance without making the aspect too dominant. Meanwhile, Arjent’s Omega wave no longer staggers enemies. That change reduces free crowd control.
Moros now deals Omega damage more in line with his base kit. Media’s attack area dropped slightly but still remains larger than most. The Moonstone Axe lost a bit of dash-strike strength but gained base attack damage. Overall, these tweaks should guide players toward more balanced choices instead of forcing them into specific builds.
Boon and Curse Reworks: Buffs, Nerfs, and Overhauls
Some changes target the most-used powers. Scorch Curse can no longer apply critical hits or similar effects, limiting synergy with abilities like mutual destruction. On the flip side, Incandescent Ore received a rework. It now damages all afflicted enemies when magic is restored, encouraging chain interactions and cast-heavy setups.
Natural Selection also changed. Instead of adjusting max stats for rarity, it now increases the level of core boons like attack, cast, or special. Players who stick to one path can now get stronger without being penalized. Frenzy speeds up enemy entries and reduces certain rival effects. Steady Growth now upgrades itself only if no other options exist.
Twilight Curse and related afflictions now block on-death attacks, though Inferno Bombs remain an exception. These updates add consistency while keeping pressure during late-game runs.
Hammer Upgrades, Keepsakes, and Visual Fixes
Some Daedalus Hammer upgrades were cleaned up. Ignition won’t appear if you’re using the Hell aspect. Looming Ignition now scales properly instead of granting full bonus up front. These changes support fairer scaling and better match descriptions.
Keepsakes received adjustments too. The Discord Bell now stays active even after switching. While this won’t change its overall ranking, it makes the item easier to manage. Visual improvements include clearer UI when Chaos disables Arcana, visible hitboxes for Typhon’s eggs, and better strike feedback for some weapons.
Combat input feels better, especially for Morgan, where Omega attacks no longer drop inputs randomly. Players can expect smoother animations and fewer unexplained delays during channel-heavy aspects.
Boss Tweaks and Final Battle Adjustments
Bosses received several behavior changes. Heracles now has less health, and Prometheus fights adjust if Idos enters mid-encounter. In Unrivaled Severus, flame spread was reduced to offer more safe space. These changes help reduce corner traps and frustrating sequences.

Skilla’s band, Polyphimas, and Hecky now follow clearer move patterns. Curing wells no longer break and can be used more often. They also remove nearby poison. These tweaks make healing more dependable without removing challenge.
Crimson Dress now scales properly by applying bonus damage over time instead of granting it all at once. Melinoë won’t take unintended spike damage during story events. And visual feedback for resource changes, keepsake swaps, and Arcana boosts all now appear clearly.
What This Patch Means Before 1.0 Launch
Supergiant adjusted balance across the board. High-damage builds like Scorch and Rocky were scaled down, while underused options like Incandescent Ore and Natural Selection became more rewarding. Players will now need to think more about synergy and less about pure numbers.
Each change supports fair play while encouraging different strategies. Weapon consistency, cleaner animations, boss pacing, and status effect clarity all saw improvements. As the team prepares for 1.0, this patch offers a final round of polish that supports diverse builds and smarter decision-making in every run.
