White Birch Snowgrave, the northernmost explorable area of Snezhnaya in Genshin Impact 7.0, is locked behind story progression. Travelers must restore the required Eye of Graeae fragments by completing the Hesperides of Love and Hate and In the Dwelling of Life questlines. Doing so starts On One Side a Palace, On the Other a Tomb, which provides access to White Birch Snowgrave and eventually the Pale Crown Palace.
Trying to enter the northern region early won’t work under normal circumstances. The extreme storm and cold prevent exploration until the associated quest has progressed far enough.
How to Unlock White Birch Snowgrave in Genshin Impact
Before you can enter White Birch Snowgrave, complete these two major questlines:
- Hesperides of Love and Hate
- In the Dwelling of Life
Finishing them restores the necessary Eye of Graeae fragments and begins On One Side a Palace, On the Other a Tomb.
The first mission in this questline is To Gaze Upon the Dreaming Pale Crown. Following this quest is the intended route into White Birch Snowgrave.
How to Reach the White Birch Snowgrave Statue of the Seven
Once To Gaze Upon the Dreaming Pale Crown begins, travel to Central Station and approach the train.
Speak with the Eye of Graeae, then follow its directions toward White Birch Snowgrave. Activate any Teleport Waypoints you encounter along the way, as they’ll make returning to the area much easier later.
Eventually, ice will block your route. Open the Prime Ice Construct building interface and create a Basic Heat Source to melt the obstruction.
Continue forward until another Prime Ice Construct prevents you from progressing. Dismantle it and follow the newly opened route.
From here, continue following the quest markers until you emerge into the main White Birch Snowgrave area. You’ll eventually be able to reach and activate its Statue of the Seven, revealing the northern section of the map.
How to Reach the Pale Crown Palace
Entering White Birch Snowgrave doesn’t immediately provide unrestricted access to everything in the region. Continue progressing through On One Side a Palace, On the Other a Tomb.
A key part of this sequence involves restoring the train leading to the Pale Crown Palace. The Eye of Graeae is required to complete this process, so reaching the region alone isn’t enough to gain proper access to the palace.
Follow the quest objectives and repair the train when prompted. Once this portion of the storyline is complete, you’ll be able to continue toward the Pale Crown Palace.
Can You Enter Northern Snezhnaya Early?
Under normal gameplay conditions, White Birch Snowgrave cannot be properly explored before completing its prerequisite quests.
The storm and extreme cold surrounding northern Snezhnaya prevent Travelers from simply walking into the region. Attempting to bypass the intended route results in the party quickly dying from the environmental conditions.
The Pale Crown Palace has an additional progression requirement. Its train can’t be repaired without assistance from the Eye of Graeae, meaning reaching the area through an unintended method wouldn’t remove the underlying quest restriction.
As a result, completing the required story content is the only practical way to permanently unlock northern Snezhnaya and the palace.
How Long Does It Take to Unlock White Birch Snowgrave?
The total time depends heavily on how much optional exploration you do along the way.
If you focus primarily on objectives, the House of Hesperides portion can take roughly 20 to 30 minutes without thoroughly exploring all of its optional rooms and puzzles. In the Dwelling of Life can take around an hour.
Overall, expect roughly two hours of focused quest progression before reaching White Birch Snowgrave, though reading dialogue and completing optional exploration will increase that estimate.
Once both prerequisite storylines are finished, continue with To Gaze Upon the Dreaming Pale Crown, follow the Eye of Graeae north, and use Prime Ice Constructs to clear the blocked route. From there, the questline will take you through White Birch Snowgrave and provide the progression needed to restore the train and finally reach the Pale Crown Palace.
