Genshin Impact Luna IV patch notes officially arrived with massive changes to the open-world RPG. The latest patch introduces three new playable characters and expands the Nod-Krai region with new areas to explore. Moreover, the Lantern Rite festival returns to reward players with exclusive items. Here’s what you need to know about the Genshin Impact Luna IV!

New Characters and Abilities

The latest Luna IV patch notes welcome three distinct characters into the roster of Genshin Impact. Each of these new characters offer unique playstyles and combat mechanics, exciting many players. Among their newest additions is Columbina, a 5-star Hydro Catalyst user that is the flagship character of “Welkin Moon’s Homecoming.”

Her specialty includes enabling multiple Lunar reactions simultaneously with sustained off-field damage through her Gravity Ripple mechanic. Aside from her, Zibai joins as a 5-star Geo Sword wielder and the main DPS character. She can trigger Lunar-Crystallize reactions, dealing substantial damage through her Lunar Phase Shift state.

For her kit, it includes converting Normal and Charged Attacks to Geo Damage. Meanwhile, she accumulated Phase Shift Radiance to deal devastating special attacks. Lastly, Illuga serves as the newest 4-star Geo Polearm user and Nightmare Orioles investigation squad member.

He is a support character that helps enhance team damage output. Illuga uses Geo and Lunar-Crystallize damage bonuses, scaling with Elemental Mastery. His CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG for Geo Damage increases through Lightkeeper’s Oath buff.

Map Expansion and New Areas

The Nod-Krai region continues to expand with three new explorable areas available. It includes Ashveil Peak, Voidsea Outlook, and the Wavechaser Plain. Players can unlock these zones after completing the quest, “Where the Moon Rises” from Song of the Welkin Moon: Act I.

Also, they will discover new Meeting Points such as Cliffwatch Camp, The Witch’s Garden, and Favonius Keep. Each meeting point is associated with World Quests you should complete before construction begins. This expansion will bring new Radiant Spin crystals and Fishing Points to collect throughout Nod-Krai.

Revolutionary Lunar-Crystallize Reaction

Moreover, the Luna IV introduces an elemental reaction system called Lunar-Crystallize. This will change the combat strategies from the previous patch update. Once Geo meets Hydro under specific conditions, the special reaction occurs.

This forms three Moondrifts near the target. Then, triggering Lunar-Crystallize 3 times will initiate Moondrift Harmony. With this, players will deal Geo Damage that can score critical hits to their nearby opponents. However, the damage calculation for this reaction considers all characters that applied elements during the process. They also introduce 2 new artifact sets to support the mechanic such as:

    • Aubade of Morningstar and Moon – Increases Lunar Reaction damage to 60% for off-field characters
    • A Day Carved from Rising Winds – Provides boost to ATK bonuses and CRIT Rate tied to Witch’s Homework completion

Challenging New Boss Encounters

Two new bosses are off to challenge the players in their Genshin adventure. It is headlined by The Doctor, a new weekly boss located in Ashveil Peak. This figure wields authority over the moons, bending rules while setting prohibitions that forces players to temporarily follow.

If not, they are bound to face punishment as he manipulates rifts from beyond the world. With this, players are required to step into these rifts and eliminate power sources. Another major challenge is the Lord of the Hidden Depths: Whisperer of Nightmares.

It deploys Deepdark Shields which summons Fishers of Hidden Depths. However, you can only break these shields through Elemental Attacks or reaction damage. The Lunar Reaction damage is especially effective alongside defeating summoned Fishers.

Lantern Rite Festival Returns

Adding up to the community’s excitement is the return of the beloved Lantern Rite event in 2026. “A Lanternlit Ode to the Silver Moon” serves as a limited-time event where you can obtain a “Rainlit Bamboo Reverie” outfit for Yaoyao. It features quests available to players at Adventure Rank 20 or above and have completed Archon Quest Prologue: Act III.

Once the event finishes, it is permanently added to the storyline. It will remain available for players who meet the requirements so they won’t miss out on the narrative content.

Conclusion

Take your time to enjoy all these new additions in Genshin Impact Luna IV patch notes! Aside from the new characters, there are new explorable areas and bosses that raise challenges into your adventure. Also, you’ll get a chance to participate in the first Lantern Rite Festival for 2026 and get a free Yaoyao cosmetic.
