The Jack Frost race in Genshin Impact challenges Travelers to outrun a group of surprisingly fast snowmen in Snezhnaya’s Everfrozen Earth. You can win legitimately by stacking movement bonuses and using mobile characters, but there’s a much easier solution: place Grappling Guns along the course to temporarily stop your competitors.
Where to Find the Jack Frost Race
The race is located south of Central Station. Look for a Jack Frost holding a flag alongside a group of smaller Jack Frosts.
Interact with the character to start the challenge.
It’s worth treating your first attempt as a practice run. Learning the course makes it easier to identify shortcuts and, more importantly, determine the best places to set up Grappling Guns.
Losing doesn’t permanently end the challenge. You can speak with Jack Frost afterward and race again as many times as necessary.
How to Easily Beat the Jack Frost Race
The simplest strategy is to use Grappling Guns against the competing Jack Frosts.
Each of the smaller snowmen has a hook on its back. A strategically positioned Grappling Gun can grab one as it passes, holding the racer in place for several seconds and giving you an opportunity to pull ahead.
After learning the route, place multiple Grappling Guns at useful points along the course before starting another attempt. The more of the track you cover, the harder it becomes for the Jack Frosts to maintain their speed.
Since the snowmen are quick enough to beat an unprepared Traveler, setting up several Grappling Guns can make the race considerably easier.
How to Win Without Grappling Guns
Travelers who want to win without interfering with the Jack Frosts can instead build a team around movement speed and exploration abilities.
Start by putting two Anemo characters in your party. Anemo Resonance increases movement speed by 10%, providing a useful passive advantage throughout the race.
You can add another speed boost with an Ambient Bollard. Equipping Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds also provides a 10% movement speed increase for its wielder.
Character selection can make an even bigger difference. Several characters have abilities that let them cover ground faster than standard sprinting:
- Xilonen offers strong exploration mobility through her abilities.
- Wanderer can rapidly travel across sections of the course with his movement skill.
- Xianyun can use her mobility to gain ground quickly.
- Diona provides increased movement speed and reduced stamina consumption after using her skill.
A useful strategy is to rotate between characters as their mobility abilities expire rather than relying on a single character for the entire course.
Use Dehya or Rosaria for Another Speed Boost
The time of day can provide another advantage if you have the appropriate characters.
Dehya increases the party’s movement speed during daytime exploration, while Rosaria provides a movement speed bonus at night.
Pick whichever character you have available, then use Genshin Impact’s in-game clock to switch to the appropriate time before starting the race.
Combined with Anemo Resonance and other movement bonuses, these passives can make a legitimate victory much more manageable.
Use the Snowball Launcher as a Shortcut
There’s also an environmental trick along the course. One of the Jack Frosts constructs a snowball launcher, which the Traveler can use to turn into a snowball and launch forward.
Using it correctly lets you cover part of the route almost instantly. From there, continue with your character mobility skills and movement bonuses to maintain the lead.
The launcher is particularly useful if you’re trying to beat the race without slowing down the competing Jack Frosts.
Jack Frost Race Reward
Crossing the finish line ahead of the Jack Frosts rewards you with an Exquisite Chest.
You can continue entering the race afterward, so there’s no penalty for experimenting with different teams, shortcuts, or Grappling Gun placements. If you’re only interested in securing the chest, however, preparing the course with several Grappling Guns is the most straightforward way to turn the Jack Frost race into an easy victory.
