Fortnite’s latest update adds a brand-new mythic that lets players become Superman during matches. Like previous live events involving Godzilla or the Star Destroyer, a Superman logo now spawns mid-match with a 50% chance, allowing one player to temporarily transform into the Man of Steel. This occurs roughly four minutes into the match—well before the second storm circle—near the center of the map.
To claim the mythic, you’ll need to reach the Superman logo before anyone else. The location is briefly shown before it activates, giving you a small window to approach. However, when it spawns, the logo knocks back everything within a certain radius. Standing directly on it will likely send you flying—giving nearby players the opportunity to grab it first. Smart movement is key here. Items like dash sprites, shockwaves, or surf cubes help you quickly reposition and claim the transformation.
Superman’s Abilities and Combat Effectiveness
Once you become Superman, you gain access to three powers: punch, laser vision, and flight. The punch is by far the most effective. It deals around 80 damage and can be used rapidly, especially if you trap enemies against terrain. The laser vision, by contrast, feels weak in both damage and range. Flight feels sluggish too, making it difficult to chase down fleeing opponents using high-mobility items.

Superman’s health isn’t particularly high, and despite gaining siphon from eliminations, you’ll often get focused by multiple enemies—especially right after transforming. You spawn high in the sky when becoming Superman, which makes you an easy target before even landing. His form lasts for about 4.5 minutes, after which you automatically revert back to your original character. If eliminated earlier, you’ll respawn in standard form and continue the match as usual.
The Sprint Boon: A Better Reward? (Fortnite Superman Update)
One of the standout additions in this update isn’t Superman—it’s the new sprint boon. Players can unlock this by dealing approximately 100 damage to Superman, regardless of whether they land the final blow. Once acquired, this boon greatly reduces stamina drain while sprinting, offering near-unlimited stamina when fully upgraded via hero ranks.
If your goal is to play well and win matches, it’s arguably better to avoid becoming Superman and instead focus on dealing damage to him to unlock this powerful mobility upgrade. Since you can only receive the boon by damaging Superman, becoming him actually prevents you from earning it yourself.
Superman Strategy: Risk, Reward, and Chaos (Fortnite Superman Update)
Superman’s spawn zone can quickly become a high-risk area. With multiple players racing to grab the logo—or damage him for the boon—it’s easy to get caught in crossfire. If you don’t have mobility items on hand, it’s usually better to avoid this part of the map entirely.
For those seeking to gain an edge, hit Superman with a few shots to unlock the boon, then disengage and reposition toward the floating island spawn. The timing works out nicely: Superman appears just before the first zone closes, and the island surfaces shortly after in the second zone. With many players distracted by Superman, it becomes easier to claim the medallion from the island uncontested.
Superman is not available in Ranked or Tournament playlists as of now, though this could change in future patches. The Fortress of Solitude POI is also not live yet—it’s scheduled to arrive on July 15th, giving players something new to look forward to next week.
