What Is the Self-Revive Device in Fortnite?

This Self-Revive device automatically triggers once your health drops to zero, regardless of the damage you’ve taken. Compared to traditional revival mechanics, this device works independently and does not require your teammate assistance. Also, this does not consume an inventory slot making it an asset in any match.

If you’re carrying a Self-Revive device, it activates automatically after getting knocked down. A notification will appear on your screen to indicate that the self-revive device is ready. Simply press the fire button to begin the revival process. It breaks after a single use, requiring you to find another one for continued protection throughout the match.

Where to Find the Self-Revive Device

It’s easy to find the self-revive device if you know where they are located. There are three ways on how you can obtain this device across the game:

Mending Machines

This is the best way to acquire yourself a self-revive device. Usually, these specialized vending machines are scattered throughout the Fortnite map. Each one stocks up to three self-revive devices for 2,500 gold bars per device.

While they seem expensive, you’re guaranteed to get the self-revive device if you have the spare currency. It is best to prioritize farming gold bars early in the match if you’re planning to purchase this device from Mending Machine.

Care Packages

Also offers the chance to obtain self-revive devices as part of the supply drops during the Rift events matches. Once you receive a notification about Care Packages, immediately check your map to find the nearest one. Inside these packages, you’ll find a self-revive device alongside other loot. But move quickly as other players will also race toward these packages to claim loot.

Rare Chests

Another method is by finding these self-revive devices which is the most difficult out of all. Obtaining a Rare Chest will provide you with two self-revive devices however the drop rate is completely random. So, don’t rely on this method as your primary source but always check Rare Chests when you encounter them.

How to Use the Self-Revive Device

Before using it, you must understand first its mechanics and limitations. Once you have the device in your inventory, a prompt will show up indicating the device is ready after getting knocked down. Then, do these following steps:

    1. Press the fire button to activate it and initiate a 10-second revival timer.
    2. During these 10 seconds, you’ll remain vulnerable to enemy attacks and still be fully eliminated.
    3. Find cover immediately while revival or ensure your attacker is at distance.
    4. This works well when you’ve been hit by long-range fire or quickly move behind cover.
    5. After the timer completes, you’ll get 30 HP to start again.
