Epic Games has rolled out a major Fortnite Season 4 balance patch, targeting several overperforming items and abilities. Medallions, the Wrecker Revolver, the Swarm Strike Rocket Launcher, and shockwave availability all received nerfs, alongside a few other notable tweaks.
Medallion Nerfs and Movement Changes (Fortnite Season 4)
The jump medallion, obtained from Demon Debris, now has 27% reduced jump height and speed. Stamina cost for double jumping is up by 50%, limiting frequent use in fights. The slide medallion also took a hit — its boosted slide speed dropped by 50%, and the base movement speed bonus was reduced by 8%.
These changes mean players can still leverage medallions for movement tricks and fight repositioning, but they no longer dominate engagements. Pre-patch, both medallions made early-game POI control disproportionately strong. Now, they remain valuable without creating insurmountable advantages.
Wrecker Revolver Adjustments
The Wrecker Revolver can no longer be double-pumped by swapping between two revolvers. Weapon-swapping to another pistol now triggers a delay, removing the quick-fire loop that defined early-season playstyles. Damage dropped by four across legendary, epic, and rare versions, while max damage decreased by 10 for all rarities. The weapon’s range was also shortened.
The exotic Wrecker Revolver still hits hard and remains a top pick, especially when paired with the Sentinel Pump or Exotic Double Trouble Shotguns. With medallions nerfed, these combos are now more viable, as movement doesn’t pull players out of optimal shotgun range as often.
Swarm Strike Rocket Launcher Tweaks (Fortnite Season 4)
Damage per rocket was reduced by five for both player and structure hits, and the blast radius shrank by 14%. However, the swarm damage multiplier increased from 3 to 3.56, likely to offset PvE performance.
Despite the nerfs, the Swarm Strike Rocket Launcher remains a high-threat weapon. It still destroys vehicles quickly and can swing fights if used at the right moment. One well-placed rocket followed by a revolver or shotgun shot often secures an elimination.

Shockwave Spawn Rate and OXR Rank Changes
Shockwave grenades now spawn less frequently, and A-tier drops provide only two instead of a full stack. This indirectly boosts the value of the Shockwave Launcher, which can still be found in exotic bunkers and OXR crates.
OXR rank requirements increased by 10% for duos, trios, and squads, but solo requirements stayed the same. Elimination points now yield more progress, making solo rank-ups slightly easier while keeping other modes balanced.
Other Notable Updates
-
Minigun recoil was reduced, but the weapon remains situational and underwhelming at range.
-
Queen Bosses have reduced HP across all modes, making medallion POIs slightly easier to clear.
Overall, this update curbs the dominance of high-mobility and burst-damage combos without removing their utility. Medallions, the Wrecker Revolver, and the Swarm Strike Rocket Launcher all remain strong but are no longer oppressive in competitive or casual play.
Early community feedback has been mixed. Competitive players welcome the reduced medallion dominance, saying it makes fights feel fairer. Casual players, however, note that certain mobility options feel harder to access. Discussions continue around whether future updates should adjust mobility availability or address other strong items dominating matches.
