Fortnite Season 3 Tips: Exotic Weapons, Shrines, and New Movement

Fortnite’s new Hero Rank system plays a central role this season. Players earn rank points through eliminations, surviving storm circles, defeating NPCs, and converting sprites into shrines. Hero Ranks directly affect the strength and quantity of rewards from Boons and hero chests. While the benefits aren’t massive in terms of stats like extra health, they’re essential for accessing better loot.

The Superhero Academy POI now has tiered loot rooms (C, B, and A) that require specific Hero Ranks to open. Each room has exclusive hero chests, including the Mythic Hyperburst Pistol in the A-tier room. Additionally, a secret vault in the northeast corner of the POI offers three rare chests once you complete the hero training challenge, which involves collecting coins and hitting targets within a time limit.

Mobility Items and Tactical Movement Changes (Fortnite Season 3 Tips)

The pickaxe vehicle trick has been completely removed. Previously, players could damage enemies inside vehicles using a pickaxe, but that’s no longer possible this season.

Instead, mobility revolves around items like the Base Boost Gloves. These gloves have two functions: using the aim-down-sight button launches you upwards or dashes you forward, while the shoot button propels you in the opposite direction by launching an energy blast. Players can also damage structures or opponents with this blast. Rarity and durability play key roles, and a color-coded UI now makes comparing glove durability much easier. Purple gloves with slightly lower durability may still outperform higher-durability blue ones due to their extended usage cap.

Sprites also grant dashes when placed in shrines. These are not fall-damage resistant like past movement items, so use them carefully. For players wanting shockwaves, the orange sprite shrine grants four, or you can buy two from the NPC at Pumped Power for 300 gold.

Another solid movement tool is the Robin Grapple Glider, which allows you to grapple and redeploy like a glider. It can be bought from the Robin NPC for 600 gold near Mask Meadows. Pro tip: cancel the glider animation by swapping weapons just after firing to retain grappling momentum.

The Utopia City POI also hides a launch pad accessible via emote in a purple room, offering redeploy options if you need a quick exit or elevated position.

New Weapons and Exotic Upgrades (Fortnite Season 3 Tips)

This season introduces dual revolvers with a unique slow-motion dive mechanic. When activated, they gain first-shot accuracy and qualify as parkour for reload augments. This dive also helps reduce fall damage, but timing is crucial. Trigger the slow-mo just before hitting the ground to avoid injury.

For mid-range combat, third-person options like the Spire AR and Hyperburst Pistol dominate. The Spire AR requires controlled tap-firing at range due to bloom spread, while the Hyperburst Pistol excels in close to medium engagements with high accuracy.

Three Unstable Exotic Weapons can be earned by defeating Demon Spire bosses:

  • Unstable Burst Pistol: Shockwave effects on the first and last bullets.

  • Unstable Sentinel Pump: Alternates between speeding up the user and slowing enemies.

  • Unstable Yoink Shotgun: Pulls enemies toward you with the first shot—risky but powerful.

Items, Secrets, and What to Avoid

The Krypto Dog Treat summons Krypto for localized explosive damage, which can also be used to fish in a pinch. Though not intended for fishing, its splash effect works on fishing spots, giving it utility in desperate moments.

Finally, the Briefcase of Patience at the gas station shack in the center of the map requires players to wait ten full minutes to open. It offers purple or gold weapons, but with so many efficient ways to get loot this season, it’s rarely worth the delay.

With smart rotation, a focus on hero rank, and efficient loot strategies, players can maximize their success this season. Master the Base Boost Gloves, capitalize on POI secrets, and manage bloom to take advantage of Fortnite Season 3’s most impactful changes.
