Fortnite Poppy Playtime Crossover Teased in Update

Fortnite has finally dropped another update, and while it isn’t the biggest one yet, it’s packed with surprises, bugs, and teasers for what’s ahead. Right away, many PC players noticed the update showing as a massive 100GB download. Luckily, that’s only a visual error—the real size is closer to 5–8GB. After clearing some space, it installs without issue.

This patch isn’t the headline seasonal drop, but it lays the groundwork for next week’s bigger rollout. From new collaborations to K-pop content and early Halloween teases, here’s everything live in the game today.

Fortnite Update – Poppy Playtime and DOAT

One of the most interesting reveals is Poppy Playtime entering the Fortnite universe. While no official skins are here yet, artwork has been spotted, confirming the crossover. Fans shouldn’t panic—skins are still expected in later patches.

Another highlight is DOAT, who revealed her skin on The Tonight Show. Officially called the Mother of Thorns skin, it’s set to arrive October 9. This skin wasn’t in the encrypted files of this patch, meaning it will be added in next week’s bigger update.

K-pop Demon Hunters and Cosmetic Bundles

The centerpiece of today’s Fortnite update is the arrival of the K-pop Demon Hunters. Players got a first look at the loading screen art, along with multiple new skins and emotes. While two emotes—Golden and How It’s Done—aren’t in the files yet, they’re confirmed to be coming soon.

Each skin costs 1,500 V-Bucks, back blings and emotes are 300 V-Bucks, and pickaxes are 500 V-Bucks. Items will be available once downtime ends. Players also asked if the Rumi Sword and Mirus Extra Spicy Ramen Back Bling are still obtainable—Epic confirmed through HYPEX that they will return.

New Map Changes and Vehicles

This patch also reshapes the map slightly. The Bug biome has been replaced, making room for fresh terrain. Two classic areas make a return: Night Shift Forest and Utopia City.

On the vehicle side, a brand-new Bugatti is coming soon, while rumors suggest Quadcrashers may now have the ability to fly. If that wasn’t enough chaos, the Red Cube has reappeared on the OG map, with speculation that it will turn red after starting purple in-game.

Collabs, Companions, and Future Content

A surprising crossover was teased early: Velma from Scooby-Doo. More franchise skins are expected later. Returning characters Ash Williams and Leatherface are also updated for a shop comeback.

OG schedule change: The OG Chapter 1 Season 5 Battle Pass will now end at 3:30am ET on October 2. Due to the last-minute change, players that have the OG pass will receive one OG pass reward automatically.

Fortnite companions—small pet-style cosmetics—are close to release. The item shop now has backend support for a companion category, suggesting they’ll appear very soon. Players also got an early reveal of the new Fox Clan Victory Umbrella, arriving with the next wave of content.

And of course, with Halloween around the corner, Epic is preparing major updates for October 9. Expect Halloween grind rails, more themed POIs, and a bigger focus on cosmetics.
