Rush, Mega Man’s robotic dog, is available in Fortnite as a Sidekick for 1,500 V-Bucks. You can purchase him separately from the Item Shop or get him as part of the 3,800 V-Bucks Mega Man Bundle. Once purchased, Rush can accompany you across supported Fortnite experiences and has his own Sidekick quests and unlockable styles.
Rush is entirely cosmetic. He reacts to the world around your character but cannot locate enemies, find items, deal damage, or provide another gameplay advantage.
How to Get the Rush Sidekick in Fortnite
The easiest way to unlock Rush is through the Fortnite Item Shop.
To buy him:
- Open the Item Shop.
- Find the Mega Man section.
- Select Rush (Mega Man).
- Hold the purchase button to confirm the transaction.
- Open your Locker and equip Rush from the Sidekicks section.
Rush costs 1,500 V-Bucks when purchased separately.
He’s also included in the Mega Man Bundle, giving players who want several cosmetics from the collaboration another option.
How Much Does Rush Cost?
Rush’s standalone price is 1,500 V-Bucks.
The complete Mega Man Bundle costs 3,800 V-Bucks, while its cosmetics have a combined individual value of 7,300 V-Bucks. That represents a 3,500 V-Bucks discount compared with purchasing every included item separately.
The Mega Man Bundle contains:
- Mega Man (Dual Override)
- Mega Man X
- Zero (Mega Man)
- Buster Cannon Fire Sword
- Buster Cannon Blades
- Z-Saber
- E-Tank Power Pack
- Z-Saber Back Bling
- Rush (Mega Man)
- Mega Buster Flex
If Rush is the only cosmetic you want, buying him individually for 1,500 V-Bucks is the cheaper option.
The 3,800 V-Bucks bundle offers better overall value if you also want several of the Mega Man outfits, harvesting tools, Back Blings, and other cosmetics.
Can You Get Rush for Free?
No, there is currently no free method for unlocking Rush.
Some confusion comes from the Override Series: Mega Man Cup, which offered Mega Man-themed rewards through competitive play.
Eligible players could earn the Mega Man Outfit by reaching the required placement for their region, while another objective offered the Override Buster Blast Spray.
Rush wasn’t among the free tournament rewards.
Unlocking Mega Man or another reward through the Cup therefore doesn’t automatically add Rush to your Locker. The tournament rewards and Item Shop Sidekick are separate cosmetics.
Can You Customize Rush?
Rush doesn’t use the same one-time appearance customization system available to certain other Fortnite Sidekicks.
With compatible customizable Sidekicks, players choose an appearance and then confirm it using the LOCK-IN option. Once locked, that appearance becomes permanent.
Rush works differently because he’s an established licensed Mega Man character.
His base design is fixed, so you won’t receive the standard appearance creation screen when purchasing him. Instead, Rush comes with his own built-in presentation options and unlockable styles, including cel-shaded and 3D appearances.
This makes him different from customizable companions such as Kit. You’re unlocking versions designed specifically for Rush rather than permanently creating your own variation of the character.
How Rush Sidekick Quests Work
Rush also comes with dedicated Sidekick quests that provide additional unlockable content.
After purchasing Rush:
- Open the Quests menu.
- Scroll to the Sidekicks section.
- Select Rush’s quests.
- Equip Rush.
- Play supported Fortnite experiences to progress his objectives.
Sidekick progression uses Sidekick Points, which are earned by playing eligible matches while the corresponding companion is equipped.
You don’t need to purchase Rush again to access these quests. Once he’s in your Locker, his associated progression can be accessed through the Sidekicks section.
Epic confirms that Rush includes quest-based unlocks, although the complete reward list and individual Sidekick Point requirements aren’t currently detailed on his public Item Shop listing. Players should therefore check the in-game Quests menu for the current progression requirements rather than relying on unconfirmed reward lists.
Does Rush Give You an Advantage?
No. Like other Sidekicks, Rush is a cosmetic companion rather than a gameplay mechanic.
He can follow your character and react to events around him, but he cannot detect opponents or items and won’t assist you during combat.
That means owning Rush doesn’t provide advantages such as:
- Enemy detection
- Item detection
- Additional damage
- Improved movement
- Extra health or shields
His reactions and animations are purely cosmetic.
Which Fortnite Modes Support Rush?
Rush can appear across Fortnite experiences that support Sidekicks, including modes such as Battle Royale, Zero Build, LEGO Fortnite, Save the World, Fortnite Festival, and compatible UEFN experiences.
Exactly how Sidekicks appear can vary between modes.
In Battle Royale, for example, players can see the Sidekicks belonging to members of their team. Other Fortnite experiences can handle their visibility and functionality differently.
When Does Rush Leave the Fortnite Item Shop?
Rush’s current Item Shop listing shows September 20, 2026, at 12:00 AM local time as the purchase deadline. The Mega Man Bundle currently displays the same date.
That date reflects the present shop rotation and shouldn’t be taken as confirmation of when Rush might return.
Fortnite regularly brings licensed cosmetics back to the Item Shop, but future appearances depend on Epic’s rotations and licensing arrangements. If you specifically want Rush, the current listing provides a clear opportunity to get Mega Man’s robotic companion before he leaves the shop on September 20.
