What is the Battle Stage?
The Battle Stage is a brand-new 16-player competitive mode in Fortnite Festival. Players compete across a four-song setlist, battling to be the last one standing when the curtain falls. Each match starts with up to 16 players, all vying for the highest score on a randomly chosen song from the featured rotation.
The Gameplay Breakdown
While players will play the same track, they get to choose their song part and difficulty level. Higher difficulties offer bonus points, but also increase the challenge. Owned Jam Tracks cannot be selected, ensuring a level playing field for all competitors.
After each song, the four lowest-scoring players are eliminated until only one victor remains standing. To gain an edge, players can launch attacks on opponents to slow their scoring and break their streaks.
A Fair Fight for All
Fortnite Festival has implemented several measures to create a balanced Battle Stage experience. The Bass and Mic multipliers have been adjusted to 4x (instead of 6x) to even the playing field. Additionally, the skill-based matchmaking system pairs players of similar skill levels, preventing newcomers from facing off against seasoned veterans right away.
In private matches with up to four friends, players can choose tracks from their shared library and the featured rotation, allowing for personalized setlists.
Conquer the Season 4 Festival Pass
As players rock their way through the Battle Stage, they can earn Festival Points by completing quests. These points help progress through the Season 4 Festival Pass, unlocking a range of free and premium rewards.
The free reward track offers the Slurp Blaster Guitar, Auras, Emotes, and three free Jam Tracks. By purchasing the Premium Reward Track for 1,800 V-Bucks, players gain access to Metallica’s iconic outfits, Lars Ulrich’s TAMA Kit, Kirk Hammett’s Gibson “Greeny” Les Paul, and the coveted “One” Jam Track.

Season 4 is a celebration of Metallica’s legendary career, with various in-game items and tracks available for purchase. Fans can rock out as the “Puppet Master” versions of James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo. Additionally, six of Metallica’s iconic tracks, including “Enter Sandman,” “Fuel,” and “Master of Puppets,” can be acquired from the shop.

Fortnite Festival has implemented several gameplay improvements for Season 4. Fret Forgiveness has been increased, allowing for a more forgiving window between strumming and fret inputs. Button bind visibility is now on by default for Pro song parts, and Overdrive can be deployed during “song breaks.”
Content creators in the Support-A-Creator (SAC) program can host VOD content on YouTube featuring a selection of Metallica Jam Tracks and monetize it. The selection will change weekly, providing new opportunities for creators to share their Fortnite Festival experiences.
