Fortnite Exotic Update: All New Black Market Weapons Explained

The latest Fortnite update introduced several exotic weapon adjustments that impact Chapter 6 Battle Royale. While the overall changes were minimal, the exotic pool in the black markets received a noticeable shuffle. Mythics such as the Minigun, Drum Gun, and Outlaw Shotgun remain unchanged in their original black market locations, but a new set of exotics has replaced the old ones.

Fortnite Exotic Update: Falcon Eye Sniper and Rift Launcher

Outside Masked Meadows, the Falcon Eye Sniper replaced the previous area-scan sniper. It only marks enemies when a shot connects, offering more balance but limiting utility. For players who enjoy sniping, marking enemies can give a tactical edge, especially in solo play. However, compared to the previous sniper’s area-scan ability, this feels like a step back. Its niche use is best suited for those prioritizing team intel or solo positioning.

Alongside it, the Rift Launcher entered the scene. This item lets players create a rift with unlimited uses, governed by a cooldown instead of limited charges. While excellent for repositioning, its value depends on player preference. With multiple mobility options this season, it competes with tools like Shockwaves and the Rocket Drill. In squad play, having one player carry the Rift Launcher could support group movement effectively. Additionally, shooting the launcher at an enemy vehicle can rift the entire car, potentially eliminating passengers if they can’t deploy gliders.

New Exotic Items in the Fortnite Exotic Update

The Magic Moss black market now features the Slap Chug Jug, a healing item offering 400 HP and the slap effect for unlimited stamina. It’s essentially two Chug Jugs combined, making it strong for sustain. While it’s slower to use than splashes, it’s a top-tier healing option for those who prefer high-value, single-use heals.

The Hollow Twister AR exotic is designed to ramp up fire rate the longer it’s fired. Despite this mechanic, its base stats fall short. Positioned between the common and green versions in damage, and with a slower starting fire rate, it struggles in quick engagements. In prolonged fights, such as those in squads, the ramp-up can shine. However, most enemies won’t remain exposed long enough for the increased fire rate to make a difference. Swapping from shotguns like the pump to this AR also feels clunky due to the initial slow fire rate.

Crime City and Additional Exotic Options

The Crime City black market introduced the Explosive Mammoth Pistol. Despite expectations, it underperforms compared to its mythic counterpart. In tests, it consistently dealt only 50 body damage, far below the standard version. The single-shot reload hampers its ability to apply consistent pressure, especially compared to the repeater’s spammable explosive shots. While some hoped it would excel at damaging vehicles or enemies behind cover, its utility in that regard remains limited.

The Twin Fire Auto Shotgun exotic brings back unlimited slap sprint and an auto-reloading magazine when sprinting or sliding. Stat-wise, it matches the legendary version, making it solid on paper. However, the sprint-to-reload mechanic takes time and doesn’t suit fast-paced fights. It lacks the impact of other shotguns, and unless the pump gets vaulted later this season, it’s unlikely to gain traction among players.

Minor Changes and Vaulting Rumors

Outside of exotic rotations, a few minor gameplay changes were implemented. Armored cars that drop mythic weapons now spawn at the beginning of the match instead of in the second zone, making them more relevant. Midas now appears outside Masked Meadows and offers a Dillbit, which cost 1,700 to 2,000 gold depending on the player.

There’s a possibility that the first set of exotics will return later in the season with random rotations per match. Currently, only the second set is available. This system would keep the loot pool dynamic and maintain freshness.

Medium ammo now drops in stacks of 24 from ammo boxes, up from 14, offering more sustainability in mid-game fights.
