All Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 Medallions Explained – Weapon Guide

New Mythic weapons and medallions have been introduced in Chapter 5, Season 4 of Fortnite. Although running around exposed on the map with these medallions is risky, their benefits cannot be ignored. In this guide, we’ll cover the best Fortnite medallions and how they play out in Season 4.

Fortnite Medallions in Chapter 5 Season 4

Medallions play a significant role this season, contributing to one of the most balanced experiences in Chapter 5. Unlike previous seasons with overpowering mobility medallions, this time, the medallions are more balanced, offering a more relaxed early game.

  1. Mysterio Medallion: Obtained from Mysterio at Doom Stat, this medallion provides invisibility while crouching. However, it’s not a favored choice. Movement causes visibility, and there’s an audio cue signaling nearby opponents. Additionally, there’s a delay when shooting after going invisible, making ambushing difficult. Compared to past invisibility items, this medallion falls short and is generally considered the weakest.
  2. Emma Frost Medallion: This medallion scans the area similarly to hiring a scanner NPC, but without the need for one. The scan activates every 50 seconds and is player-specific, not medallion-specific, allowing teammates to share it. In team modes, passing the medallion around ensures frequent scans. It’s especially effective in duos where one player can carry it and another can pick it up when needed. Combining it with a hired NPC offers staggered scans, providing constant intel. The Emma Frost Medallion is highly effective and versatile.
  3. Dr. Doom Medallion: This medallion grants a siphon effect, restoring 50 health or shield per elimination. If at 50 health, eliminating an opponent restores full health. It’s straightforward and consistently useful, making it a favorite among players who prioritize health regeneration during combat. Despite the Emma Frost Medallion being slightly more versatile, many players will still prefer the straightforward benefit of the siphon effect.

Mysterio’s Shotgun

Mysterio’s Shotgun can be obtained from Mysterio at Doom Stat. Compared to the Mythic version, it deals four more body damage and five more headshot damage. Despite some reservations about the attachments, recent buffs to the Sovereign Shotgun have made this more viable. The attachments include a 1.5x red dot sight, a laser sight, and a suppressor. However, the suppressor on a shotgun feels unnecessary. The laser sight is decent but, given that the Sovereign incentivizes aiming down sights, using an angled foregrip for faster aiming speed is preferred. The red dot sight also detracts from the experience, as it pushes more towards aiming in, which doesn’t suit this shotgun.

While not the top choice early in the season due to its slow aim-down-sight speed, recent improvements have made it more manageable. If only a green or blue Sovereign Shotgun is available, using Mysterio’s Mythic Shotgun until better options become available is a viable option.

Emma Frost Striker Burst Rifle

Emma Frost’s Striker Burst Rifle can be found at the Raft POI. This rifle deals two more damage and three more headshot damage than the legendary version. The attachments include a 1.15x sight, a speed mag, a speed grip for faster strafe speed, and a muzzle brake for reduced recoil. While most attachments are ideal, the speed grip might not suit everyone. It accelerates strafing speed, which may feel off for players accustomed to a certain pace. Despite this, the Mythic remains an excellent choice for those who prefer the burst style. Although personal preference leans towards the Striker AR, the Mythic burst is worth using for fans of this weapon style.
