Fortnite has announced major updates to this Fortnite Battle Pass, particularly affecting non-Battle Royale (BR) modes. These changes will allow players to earn rewards from various game modes without requiring specific gameplay outside of Battle Royale. If interested in cosmetics from modes outside BR, this update will likely have an impact.
New Fortnite Battle Pass Progression System
Starting December 1st, Fortnite’s pass progression system will change, allowing players to earn rewards across all game modes through experience points (XP). This update affects all passes released after December 1st, meaning all Fortnite Battle Passes will progress simultaneously, regardless of the game mode played. The next pass to feature this new progression will be the music pass, previously known as the Festival Pass, set to release on November 2nd.
Simultaneous Pass Progression for All Modes
From December 1st onward, players can progress through any Fortnite Pass by simply earning XP. This change means the current method, limited to BR-exclusive progression, will be available across all modes. For example, the upcoming Bricker Treat Lego pass will allow players to level up without playing Lego-specific content. The music and Lego passes will follow the same track system as the Battle Pass, featuring both free and premium rewards.
Auto-Claim Reward Feature
With these pass updates, Fortnite will introduce an auto-claim feature, automatically unlocking the next available reward. Previously, players needed to manually select each reward, but with this feature, progression will feel more streamlined. Additionally, Festival Points will be retired on November 2nd, followed by the removal of Battle Stars and studs on December 1st. Rewards will now be based directly on XP, further simplifying the process.
Changes to Purchase Options
Fortnite will modify the way players purchase rewards. Instead of purchasing levels to unlock rewards, players can now directly purchase individual rewards, up to a specified limit, without needing to progress sequentially through levels. This shift allows more flexibility in acquiring specific rewards and reduces reliance on accumulated levels.
Simplified Multi-Pass Progression
With the simultaneous pass progression update, any XP earned in Fortnite will apply to all active Fortnite Passes at the same time, although individual passes may require different XP amounts to unlock the next reward. The music and Lego passes will benefit from this system, allowing players to progress through all passes simultaneously, even while focusing on a preferred mode like BR.
Expanded Audience for Fortnite Passes
This update broadens the appeal of passes such as the Festival and Lego passes, enabling BR players to obtain non-BR rewards without leaving their preferred game mode. By making all Fortnite Passes accessible through any game mode, Fortnite aims to create a unified progression experience and attract players interested in cosmetics and rewards exclusive to modes outside of BR.
Direct Pass Reward Purchases
Instead of purchasing levels that may unlock rewards across multiple passes simultaneously, players can now directly buy desired rewards. This adjustment means that those buying rewards across multiple Fortnite Passes will need to make individual purchases, ensuring each pass progresses independently.
The Future of Fortnite Pass Bundles
Fortnite will also introduce a new option allowing players to purchase all premium passes in one bundle, simplifying access to premium rewards across different Fortnite Passes.
