Pumpkin Chests are special Fortnitemares containers that can be smashed to release a random Sprite in Fortnite. They’re found at several predetermined locations around the Battle Royale island, including Lifty Lodge, Freaky Fields, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, Nightmare Neighborhood, and Shaken Sanctuary.
Finding one is also required for the “Smash a Pumpkin Chest to find a Sprite” Nitemare One Quest. Completing it awards 15,000 XP and counts toward the Fortnitemares quest requirements for seasonal rewards, including the Jack-a-Nape Outfit.
All Pumpkin Chest Locations
Pumpkin Chests have specific potential spawn points, but they aren’t guaranteed to appear in every match.
That means arriving at one of the locations below and finding nothing doesn’t necessarily mean you’re in the wrong place. The chest simply may not have spawned during that match.
The currently known Pumpkin Chest locations are:
| Location | Where to Find the Pumpkin Chest |
|---|---|
| Lifty Lodge | Outside the front entrance of the large lodge to the north |
| Freaky Fields | Northwest corner of the area |
| Freaky Fields | Near the house on the eastern side |
| Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria | Just east of the Pizzeria before the tunnel |
| Nightmare Neighborhood | Near the playground in the southeast |
| Shaken Sanctuary | Outside the building in the far northwest |
| Shaken Sanctuary | On the hillside toward the far south |
There may be additional Pumpkin Chest spawn points around the island, but these are the known locations so far.
Where to Find the Pumpkin Chest at Lifty Lodge
Head to Lifty Lodge and make your way toward the large lodge on the northern side of the area.
The Pumpkin Chest can appear outside its front entrance.
Since Pumpkin Chests aren’t guaranteed spawns, check the entrance and move on to another location if it isn’t there.
Where to Find Pumpkin Chests at Freaky Fields
Freaky Fields has two known Pumpkin Chest spawn locations.
The first is around the northwest corner of the POI.
For the second, travel toward the house on the eastern side and search around the building.
Having two possible spawns in the same POI makes Freaky Fields a useful location to check when you’re specifically trying to complete the Pumpkin Chest quest.
Where to Find the Pumpkin Chest at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria
A Pumpkin Chest can also appear near Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria.
Travel just east of the Pizzeria and toward the tunnel. The potential chest location is found before you enter the tunnel.
This also gives players visiting the Five Nights at Freddy’s location during Fortnitemares another nearby opportunity to collect a Sprite.
Where to Find the Pumpkin Chest at Nightmare Neighborhood
At Nightmare Neighborhood, travel toward the southeastern part of the POI.
Look for the playground. A Pumpkin Chest can spawn nearby.
If the chest isn’t present, you’ll need to check another known spawn or try again in a different match.
Where to Find Pumpkin Chests at Shaken Sanctuary
Shaken Sanctuary has two known Pumpkin Chest locations.
The first is outside the building in the far northwestern corner of the area.
The second is much farther south, where a Pumpkin Chest can appear on the hillside at the southern end of Shaken Sanctuary.
Check both locations before leaving the POI if you’re hunting specifically for Pumpkin Chests.
How to Smash a Pumpkin Chest
Unlike a regular Fortnite chest, you don’t simply open a Pumpkin Chest for conventional loot.
Approach the Pumpkin Chest and use the available interaction to smash it.
Once destroyed, the chest releases a random Sprite that you can collect.
The Sprite isn’t fixed to the location, so finding the same Pumpkin Chest spawn in different matches doesn’t guarantee the same Sprite each time.
What Do Pumpkin Chests Drop?
Pumpkin Chests are another source of Sprites during Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4.
Smashing one releases a random Sprite. The possible reward appears to draw from Sprites available during the season rather than giving each Pumpkin Chest location a specific drop.
Among the Sprites that can appear are:
- Spooky Dash Sprite
- Deer Sprite
- Vampire Sprite
- Other available seasonal Sprites
Pumpkin Chests appear particularly useful when searching for the Fortnitemares-themed Sprite variants, although the exact Sprite you receive remains random.
How to Complete Smash a Pumpkin Chest to Find a Sprite
One of the Nitemare One Battle Royale Quests asks you to:
“Smash a Pumpkin Chest to find a Sprite.”
You only need to successfully find and smash one Pumpkin Chest.
Completing the objective gives you:
15,000 XP
It also adds one completion toward the broader Fortnitemares reward progression, which includes cosmetics such as the Jack-a-Nape Outfit.
Because the chests aren’t guaranteed to spawn, landing at an area with multiple known locations can make the objective easier. Freaky Fields and Shaken Sanctuary each have two known Pumpkin Chest spawn points, allowing you to check two potential locations without traveling across the entire island.
Once you find one, interact with the Pumpkin Chest to smash it, collect the Sprite that appears, and the quest should register automatically.
